If you didn't think it was possible for Crete to come up with another way to micro-manage and harass the drivers, wait until you get stuck in a truck with a Drivecam. And, NO....I didn't get stuck with one because I have been screwing up. It was in the new truck they assigned me.
Just as I thought, the #### thing goes off all the time.
If you are an experienced driver, there are less reasons than ever to avoid Crete. Let them fill the trucks with fingerless glove wearing, fresh out of truck driving school supertruckers, who don't know any better, who will spend lots of money in the company store, and think they have a good job.
Next they'll be requiring us to wear Hi-vis vests while we are sleeping, and will be checking to see we do it via the drivecam.

Someone said that FFE is putting cameras in the cab to watch the drivers too...that's just plain sick in my estimation.
-
On the drivecam issue....Did you protest and request to get "Grandfathered In", might be worth a shot. I know that when I hired on it was not a condition for employment or elogs for that matter.

I know that if there were a drivecam in my truck, had I truck to drive, it would NEVER be functional. "Heh, sorry boss! There must be a mouse in here someplace that keeps chewing through those wires!"
-
####, and I used to think, well still do, that Schneiders "check rides" were an insult. You don't trust me to drive your truck, then I don't need to be working for you. You can't even hardly justify working for these nit-wit mega carriers anymore.
azcardnlz Thanks this. -
Most drive cams don't record all the time just 8 or 10 seconds half before half after a event like hard brake or hard turn big bumps need to jar the camera to activate them
-
OK, I was wondering why they put the cameras in their trucks aimed at drivers. I thought maybe they didn't trust them to stay awake or something.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
On the main Crete thread, one of the regular posters was saying a driver got fired for not wearing his seatbelt while sliding his tandems. The jar of the tandems hitting their rear most position tripped the cam, no seat belt, and fired. Nobody puts their seatbelt on while sliding tandems.

Untrue, they record constantly. When triggered, the camera will SAVE the data which was RECORDED in that timeframe. A device cannot go backward in time and spontaneously "record" an event.oneshyne and oldslowchevy Thank this.
