what happens is that drivers could be issued a red or blue truck nowadays. they both have crete & shaffer on the door. so, a crete driver could be driving a blue truck and pulling crete trailers. the recruiter told me that they like drivers to stick with pulling the trailers of the company they signed on with. so it's not common for a crete driver to pull a shaffer trailer, and vice versa.

I've pulled a Shaffer trailer on two occasions. One was a pre-loaded trailer that had been dropped, the other was when I was in the SLC area and was assigned to pick up a brand new Shaffer trailer and pick up a temp-controlled load nearby (medical supplies, keep refer at 72 degrees).

are you in the national fleet? i'd love to be able to stay in the midwest, but i'm willing to go wherever they send me - just hoping they give me some time for experience before a NYC assignment. do you know if they have much NYC? i want to start on the right foot and don't want to turn down any loads as a rookie, not even sure if they give that option?

being national, what do you usually average in regard to miles?

This calendar year through May, I've run 54,987 miles. Last year, I ran about 122,000. I am by no means the hardest runner out here. After going on 15 years out here, I'm not chasing the beach house in Hawaii any longer!
But as a rule, during any week that I'm out for the entirety of that week, I'll run anywhere from 2700-3200. Last week, I ran about 2500 thru Thursday, then got a load Friday morning to deliver Saturday as my going home load...it was 700 miles. I think the very worst full 7-day week I've ever had there was still over 2000 miles, and that's been a long time ago.wawtrucker Thanks this. -

You're most welcome. I don't want to make Crete sound like the best thing since apple fritters, but they've been pretty good to me along with some bumps along the road. I won't tell you that there aren't any times I think of leaving, but I have a bit of a quick temper!
So much of it will depend on your asset manager (what they call them here...other companies have driver managers, dispatchers, etc.). My present AM is really, really good and I'm just hoping she retires in her present position! But I make more money here than any other place I've worked, the benes are decent, my checks are right, the equipment is good....could be worse.wawtrucker and xlsdraw Thank this. -
I've got family that has been driving with Crete for over 10 years, now i'm in school and will be heading to Crete, they're definitely one of the nicer ones out there and I look forward to driving for them. I'm sure they have their quirks just like any other company though.
