Crete drivers- what does Crete say it requires your idle percentage to be?

    What is their idle policy?

Would you endure 95 degree temps in order to keep your idle percentage at 2 percent?

Would you require your passenger to endure these conditions?

I would idle if it was necessary to stay cool or warm,,Many carriers are too cheap to buy APUs,,Do what you must do but if you get fired go some where else,, I see a lot of trucks idling when it is not necessary, Drivers tell me they don't care they are not paying for fuel..other sit in a truckstop all day while their pet is in a truck and idling..
A truck uses about 1.1 gallons of fuel per hour idling,,an APU uses about a quart of fuel per hour to idle and an APU cost about $10,000. I guess if the company does not care about a driver idle restrictions are strict,, Carriers wonder why they have high turn over rates and this could be one reason, Sugges you keep journal,,record your days activites,,messages from dispatch and where you go and also keep track of temps when you idle..One other problem I see with big fleets..A 75 degree day with sun beating down on a truck inside tems soar. The last three trucks I bought I ordered them with Artic insulation packages,,makes a big difference on inside temps,,summer and winter

I would never work for a company that did not provide some sort of climate control for truck.

Either diesel powered apu or battery powered system if they wont let you idle.

My company uses battery powered units but we idle when batteries go down.

I agree with you. My situation is that it is not my companies policy, but my trainer's policy.

There are several reasons for idling a truck. Aside from not giving a crap like many do as it's not my truck I am not buying the fuel attitude.
It can be a dark truck that absorbs heat like a sponge.
Idling the truck in self defense from the noisy truck near by and many a APU need to have real mufflers installed. Noisy noisy.
Can't stand the pop pop pop pop all night long. Rigmaster is the worst.
Idling a truck due to bad starter or bad batteries.
I think the number one reason is company drivers don't give a crap .
They don't realize that if the truck expense is reduced they might get a raise in pay.

Well, I have been a company driver/student for a week now and this truck has an apu. Trainer barely uses it and I am roasting as we speak. It is not that I don't care, but it is August in the Midwest. After this experience, I probably won't care.

Think most of the megas want you at below 20-30% idle time.

You'll knock that out easy at a shipper or receiver.

    (Singular) not both.
