Yeah, I always remember going past the Crete terminal when I was on my way to the Averitt terminal in K-ville. I always thought it was strictly a repair facility. My understanding too is that Crete is building a nice new terminal in K-ville which will open soon. Oh well--just don't be too quick to judge. TMC has a beautiful hotel and terminal in Des Moines, and I hated working for them, and Averitt had nice terminals for the most part, which I spent many hours at due to low miles and no freight moving. So, in summary, if the truck runs good, and you have consistent freight, I don't give two sh%^ if their terminal is a cardboard box--just gimme my paycheck!

I hear you driver. But I have to go with my gut feelings. It just wasn't my cup of tea. If I was in it for the money I wouldn't be a trucker. Not getting paid for sleeping in a truck, that's losing time and money. I want to have a nice place to come back to instead of a drop yard of a terminal. Trucking is a Lifestyle that I've always wanted. Money is to be made with experience, that I'm trying to get. I'll see what I'm worth later. Be safe.

The terminal is a drop lot and IS the trailer maintenance facility which is why they were all "junky", there is a second building at the bottom of the hill that does tractor repairs.
Once they move into the new place, that will leave Spartanburg, SC as the hellhole terminal of the company (2 steps better than DeLand, FL).
I've never been put in a bad motel with them either, so unfortunately it sounds like someone has goofed and I hope you were honest and brought it to their attention. Orientation at Marietta is what you have imagined - a nice modern facility, classroom training, catered lunches and a company car for drivers to use to shuttle to and from the motel.
Beat me to it... lol...

The two Knoxville yards (one for tractor repairs and one for our trailer repairs) are the smallest in the fleet. That's why they are currently building a $5 million terminal to replace them. Looks can be deceiving, the Knoxville terminals have the best bunch of mechanics in the fleet. Top notch work and fast.

I thought it was a drop yard so I looked around and couldn't find anything that looked like a terminal. This place is nasty and all of trailers there were junky. They had about 3 trucks on the lot and all of them looked terrible.

I'm new to the trucking business so I don't have a clue if this is how it really is out here, but I couldn't bring myself to go to orientation after staying at a ratty motel and looking at my home terminal. All of Nashville terminals look like terminals, so that's what I expected when I drove up to Knoxville. Man, it made me mad.

So i paid for my motel room myself. (Crete didn't reserve one for me, that sucked.) Paid for my rent a car, didn't want anything to do with oweing Crete anything.

So I'm warning all new drivers signing up for Crete's Knoxville terminal to run as fast as you can, because it not what you would expect from a Big Company like Crete.

Did I mention that I was the only one there for orientation, that also raised a red flag when I was checking in.

Please help me on this matter, is this what I can expect or is this just me. Thanks

I DONT KNOW WHEN YOU POSTED THIS BUT THEY ARE REPLACING THAT TERMINAL WITH A 5 MILLION DOLLOR ONE..YEAH I AGREE ITS BAD BUT ITS TEMP..NOT ALOT OF ROOM IN KNOXVILLE IN CASE YA DIDNT NOTICE..LOL..AND MOST PEOPLE ARE GIVEN A TRUCK AFTER UA'S AND ORIENTATION IS IN LINCOLN, NE UNLESS YOU HAVENT BEEN DRIVING THAT LONG THEN OF COURSE THEY NEED TO GET TO KNOW ABOUT YOU AND YOUR ABILITIES BEFORE THEY PUT YA IN A $100K TRK/TRLR AND LET YA DRIVE OFF...AND LINCOLN IS A NICE TERMINAL (ALTHOUGH I AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE)

Once again your inattention to detail is showing.
