I've read multiple things, so I want to get a definite answer. I'm currently waiting for a replacement Social Security card, and as soon as I get it, it's off to Cedar Rapids for myself. CRST is putting me up for 4 weeks in a hotel for training and orientation. After that it's 28 days in the truck with a training. So I figured I'll hit all my bases in one thread.
1 - Do they take taxes out of your weekly pay checks?
2 - I've been told you get paid .22 a mile for your first 3 months, and it increases after you've worked more and gained experience. Is that the truth? I read in one thread it's actually .11 a mile. I'm confused.
3 - Financially, is the 20/10 program worth the home time, or should I go on the normal CRST schedule?
4 - How thourough are the in-truck trainers? Do they generally make sure you're ready?
5 - How does team driving work? I drive 10 hours, then we switch out and I sleep?
6 - Are there TVs or anything in the trucks?
Anything else anyone can add in that I may need to know is great. Thanks guys (and gals).

I have a lot of questions about CRST also. Hope you get some answers.
I completed an application about a year ago and never followed through. I recently sent a couple e-mails to the company to inquire about their refresher. Guess I'll have to make a phone call because they haven't responded to the e-mails.
Good luck -
nights and weekend disbatch is a joke, thinks of the ###### nastys place you ever been multiply than by 10 and you will get the picture on most of the terminal and drop yards over all it's not bad for a training company. -
All your questions were answered. You won't be put up in a hotel in Cedar Rapids. They have dorms. Sounds like you are getting your cdl through them. If so, your training pay once you get on a truck is 50 bucks a day.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I'm gonna have to look into getting an inverter or something.
I know about the training pay rate. Also, if I'm in a dorm, are they secure? Meaning, if I bring any electronics such as a laptop, will it be safe while I'm gone? -
-
I would bring anything like lap tops too dorm or anywere near the place, i was with them back in 1995, havent change anything, the doors on dorms have a deadbolt that you can kick in with no problem, you bunk with 4 other strangers, your pay is split with trainer and taxes is always comes out first , followed by your advances , dont do it , the advances , you never get ahead if you do, vbring lots canned food , you can latter add too truck and eat in truck much as you can, stay out truck stop, there a money pit, there are terminals with washer and dryers , but most times there broken down, the tv room if they have at certain termials broken, the company wont let you have a power inveter over a certain wattagge and same as cb radios and ants, the shop has too install all this stuff, even once you get your own truck, the trls are great danes , and others , most are over 34 years old and very rusty sliders and a very b i t h too move once loaded , wacth out for the doors they fall off if the hinges are bad, had one falloff on me im thinking someboby pulled it off and put back on , and left in the yard with no write up, so i need a empty and i opean the door and bam, spent the night in a hospital, it was on a gravel lot and couldnt get out the way fast enuff, if your not on the road , cause your trainer went home or whatever , your asked too do office duty or be a errand boy and run back and forth too the drug center and back too termanal and or do gen office duty filing papers, and whatever else they decide needs done, Everett

So you're saying taking anything valuable is a bad idea?

Been with Crst for 5 years they are building a new terminal
in California that is to be like the one in cedar rapids
the four terminals are cedar rapids,Fontana,ok city, Carlisle
CR being home terminal it is the best only two years old Carlisle is a dump I think there will be changes there never could see from
highway but all the Road work all the trees are gone and now u see the
dump.
Contract students get 50 bucks a day in training
.22 month 2 and up from there I think by 6th month .31
12th month .34 if a team runs 6000 miles a week u get 3000
and co driver gets 3000
best thing is for a student is if u can get your cdl on your own there are
a lot of states out there now that will pay for your training because of
the job market and u will not have a contract
I train and the student I have now made 650.00 last week
we ran right at 6000 miles on the three runs we had being an I/C miles don't mean alot to me but when the loads pay good.
He has driven before but most of my students never get advances because I run hard and if the student is willing to learne and can do there part I will help them get by I will not by all of there meals but
if they are making me money then I will return the favor in feeding theBigRigRick Thanks this.
