Not if someone's dumb enough to drive for 20 cpm. If you run 3000 miles, that's $600 gross for the week. That aint even worth being away from home. :biggrin_25513:

3000 miles at an average speed of 60mph is 50 hours driving a week.......thats $12 an hour.....and that doesnt include anything besides the actual driving......as we all know theres alot more to the job than actually driving

why do people go for companies like this? id honestly rather find a warehouse job working with a bunch of mexicans for $12 and get to go home every night

    I_HATE_MINIVANS Thanks this.

    #### straight. I'd rather stock shelves at a freakin' Walmart and go home every day than stay out on the road for chump change. There's more to live than sleeping in truck stops and idling through orange barrel zones all day.

    teams probably pay .40.

split between two people comes to .20.

you make .20 per mile wether your driving or in the sleeper.

    that's how team pay works.

That is not what is being discussed. CRST (Van) Expedited solo pay (regardless of experience) is 22CPM!!!!! Doesn't matter who you are or what your experience level is. Even that phony poster posing as a long time driver for CRST (most likely a recruiter) would be making a whopping 22CPM were he to drive solo at CRST Expedited.

A team driver operating solo is "in the Gold Rush:biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523::biggrin_25523:" at 22CPM. (not the 20CPM that poster 'bikegoon' [who couldn't cut it at CRST, yet still feels the need to give questionable info] was spouting).

Hurry on over! They're filling the seats in Cedar Rapids!!!

So.........you might think that splitting 22CPM would be unthinkable, huh? Think again. 11CPM is what CRST Expedited pays a newbie fresh out of one of their CDL mills. (Let's not forget all of the expenses such as transportation, physicals, drug screens, lodging, etc., etc that CRST is deducting while paying you this princely sum). Yada yada yada.................

Ah what the hell. Nobody listens anyhow. I'm to the point of almost requesting a ban this time mods. (sigh) :biggrin_25522:

Are you posting this info from personal experience or from 2nd hand sources?

Reason I ask is that I am heading to Cedar Rapids on the 5th for a 3 day orientation and then going out with a 'lead' driver for 28 days before cutting me loose.

I was told I would be paid .22 cpm for the first 90 days, .26 cpm after 4 months and .31 cpm after 12 months. Pay is based on split mileage between you and your co driver. This is how it was explained to me. If I'm being mislead please speak up.

    Personal experience.............

Right on the money Hurst. You will be getting 22CPM which is split at 11CPM. You will get 11CPM for all miles dispatched. Then the increases. Good luck!

OK I see what your saying. Total miles split at .22c or .11c for all miles,.. still comes out the same. Not sure I like that. You really need a dedicated co driver who is as money hungry as you are. If I get stuck with a lazy hot head I'm screwed. .11 cpm when you take into account the hours and time that you are away from home comes out to barely min wage.

I hate being in this position. I'll call around some more and see if I can get someone to at least let me take a test drive. I am honestly not looking forward to working for CRST. But I am the kind of guy that will put my best foot forward and do the job that is asked of me. I know what OTR is about. Pretty sure I will be hating life for the next 12 months if I cant find anything else between now and when I leave for Cedar Rapids.

If they try to get me to sign up for classes or pay for any training I am walking out.

Be prepared to do some walking out rather quickly Hurst. The first thing that CRST will be doing is throwing contracts and deduction agreements for (remedial), (refresher), or downright newbie training since you have been out so long. It ain't gonna be pretty, bub.

Ummm...what have you been told thus far that this training is supposed to cost you? Rarely and I mean very rarely Hurst, does a driver arrive at CRST without incurring training costs. In your particular case, I would not be surprised if they were scheduling for the entire newbie ball of wax plan. You know, surf and turf with all the trimmings, bro............

Be careful friend..............and please keep us posted.
