I am looking into the CRST Malone lease purchase plan. I've read all the threads. I've noticed that they have been leasing some old Crete/Shaffer trucks as well as the gold trucks. Is this still what they are leasing? Also, do they have a headache rack on them, or a side box on the trailer? Any current info would be appreciated!

Leasing fraightliner coulmbia and centurys. Now a few cascadia.
The trailers you rent weekely. I think they have a rack on them -
They have 250 new alum/ utility trailers coming in with a headboard that has a chain and ratchet hanger, and 1 side box. The trucks don't come with a headache rack, but you can buy one and they will install it or you. I bought one and have it on here.
The majority of the trucks in the L/P program are old Crst van trucks, they do have a few old crete/schaffer trucks. They also recently bought out STI transport and have put some of there old white Century class freightliners in the L/P program. -
They also had some former Transport America trucks - condos and midroofs both. The thing at surface level which I don't like about their LP program is the "luck of the draw" method in which you get your vehicle and trailer. But the LP drivers I met when I ran for CRST Malone mostly seemed to have good experiences with the company.

Also, If you want to be profitable with CRST malone, be proactive at finding your own loads. Dispatch on the side Will find you loads but they are low paying runs.

Thanks for the info. I'm really leaning toward going with them and just want to know as much as I can so I can make the right decision.

runningman i have read most of your post about crst on here seems your doing pretty good with them. how long have you been doing l/p so far. i hate to l/p but after 19 yrs as o/o i can not drive as a company driver i have tried. with some bad luck and divorce my credit isnt good enough to buy a truck. i sold my last truck over a year ago with intent to buy a newer truck with better mpg but nobody will work with me. i did like that you got your truck fixed with no out of pocket. you said you turned your truck in when you broke your elbow so is it a walk away lease? i would like to have some solid insight as far as loads i would rather not have a dispatcher i like getting my own loads i dont need my hand held. i do need to get back on my feet everything i read on here is all negative about every company. its crazy

The lease is indeed a walk away lease, no strings attatched. As long as you turn the truck and unpaid equiptment in when you quit, there will be no issues.
One of the main reasons I like it here, is that I basically dispatch myself. I run where I want, run the freight I want, and go home when I want. Can't beat it.
