Filled out an application on line with CRST about 2 months ago and just got the call. I have my class A already but, im scared of that concentration camp they have in iowa. Too many horror stories. Should I just bite the bullet and gain some experience? I hate my current job already making 10/h.

Do you want to run team with someone you've never met?

You'll probably be required to take a refresher course unless you have logbooks showing that you've been driving in the last 30 days, and you will be required to pay them back for course if you get cut.

Do you want to be gone for a minimum of 2 weeks at a time?

The way I see it, everyones gotta go through a bit of hell at first so i dont mind teams for at least 3 months. More importantly, I just talked to the crst rep today and was told the bus ride/lodging was paid by them and he specifically mentioned I didn't have to pay back anything. It sounds suspicious though. I'm heading out the 2nd of january straight to orientation. I"m gonna keep posting whats happening as much as I can. All words of wisdom welcomed.

You already have your CDL so no need to worry about the "concentration camp". The recruiter lied. You will be paying back a "transportation fee. It used to be $75.

Don't know what the problem would be with staying out more than two weeks. I stay out 6 or 7. I'm in it to make money. You won't be making much the first 6 months so stay out as long as possible. You aren't making anything sitting at home.

Use CRST to learn. You might even get lucky and find a good partner, make lots of money and decide to stay. I stayed with them for a year and a half. After you put some time in, at least a year, then you can shop around for a better company.

You will always be team with CRST.
If you don't mind that, then it's an option. But if you don't want to team, look elsewhere.
Be specific about whether they will require a refresher course and how much it will cost you.
Same for training and transportation costs.
There are some training companies out there that will give you a road test and if you pass, will put you into orientation without a refresher course, so long as you got your license in the last 12 months.
