I am currently unemployed and researching a new career,I have bills to pay and I am currently working with my local WIA agency towards my CDL Liscence, but its been 3 months now and I cant get a definitive answer from the benefits administrator, She tells me I am a good candidate, everything is good to go,waiting on the funds, etc, also the cost of school in my area is more than WIA will pay,I have prehires from Roehl,Covenant, and I have been contacted by a CRST recruiter offering to pay for the school fees, located in my state of residence, then off to Cedar Rapids, So I suppose my ? would be what can I expect to gross a month with CRST during the 8 month contract period.

Just got confirmation on the WIA grant, looks like I can start school in July,so now I won't have to sign a contract with CRST,but still not ruling them out after recieving my CDL, I got a pre hire with ROEHL also, and Covenant, and currently talking to a Schneider recruiter who has a dedicated route within an hour of my residence, of the four I have mention, could someone with a bit of experience give a lil insight on which is the better to star a career with, I like the idea of Schneider being close to home , BUT!!!!

the cdl schools almost all accept whatever the goverment will pay no matter what they ask for In NJ I got all my endorsements with bus for 1/3 less then advertised price. I dont even want bus today but needs and priorties change in ones life so i figured i might as well get it now
As far as reccomending a company you need to figure out what you want to do OTR , Regional, Day cab etc. No company is one fit for all. The other thing is a year from now you will know better what you dont want after you have been driving. I didn't even know the questions I wanted to ask 6 months ago. God took care of me anyway
Transam is the fit for me but you might H8 it -
I am NOT experienced but from my "personal" research Schneider is the best but thats my opinion and what would work for ME, but I am going with CRST because I don't have the cash to pay for school.

Dave how you doing? Pick a carrier yet?

I am pretty sure Schneider pays for schooling too? I did not really like CRST but that is just me. I had a bad fm and i dont get along with very many people. some weeks i made 350 some weeks i made 900. never consistent though i only made 12,000 in my last 5 months there

Schneider has tuition reimbursement but they don't pay for people to go to school upfront like PAM and CRST and they don't make you sign no contract. Now NotTheAverageTrucker what was bad about your FM that you did not like and do you think that if you had a different FM that you would have stayed with CRST?

Still kick'n, Talked to Epes on phone, said call back after I recieved my CDL, Schneider recruiter said the same, Roehl recruiter called and reassured me I got a job, and I fully expect a bus ticket for a grad present, I am excited to know that they will give me a shot and I must add they have always been polite and professional, may be a good place to start.
