    Hi,

I work for CRST Van Expedited and was considering going thru lead class and doing the lease purchase. What advice would you have for me to be able to make enough money to pay my bills and still build a good savings account for high dollar major repairs while doing this or is it even possible?

What was it like to be a lead and would anyone have any advice for someone who has never trained before so I can be a "good" trainer?

All tips and advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike

I wouldnt do a lease with ANY company, but thats my opinion. If I was going to do something like that, I'd get a truck from a dealer, and go in as a O/O. Lease drivers get SCREWED alot from what I've heard/seen with ANY company.

How long have you been with CRST.Why are you considering leasing? Are you ready to sign a contract? That means you CANNOT get out of that contract.Suppose a few months later you're not happy then what are you going to do,you'll be stuck with them. Why don't you speak with some lease operators at CRST and see if they're having any success. Also take into consideration how long they've been with CRST.To be a good trainer is one that has been driving for a good yr first. You can't possibly know everything to be a good trainer with only a few short months of driving yourself.A good trainer one one who doesnt yell and have patience to make your student be the successful and safe driver he/she can be.Don't use students just for the miles. In leasing make sure to read and clearly understand EVERYTHING and don't be afraid to ask questions.

First crst's lease is a walk away lease. If its not working for you you give them 20 days notice then you can walk away. Second I am considering it because that's been my goal from the out set of my career to be my own boss. Third I've ben driving 7 years(if you had even looked at my name you'd have seen that) and if I had ever gotten into a truck with a trainer with only 1 year exp i'd have jumped back out jut as fast. At 1 year your still green and only know enough to be dangerous. That's basically the blind leading theblind. How long I've been with CRST is irrelevant to the question I asked.

Thank you for your reply I do apreciate it, but I asked for CRST lease operators to reply to this thread not outsiders who no nothing of CRST's lease purchase program and how it works.

Well if you only wanted CRST lease operators to respond you should have also stated AND NOONE ELSE,lol. You don't have to be a lease operator to know if its a shakey deal or not,the proof is in the thousands upon thousands of posts and threads on this very same subject.Just trying to save you from making a mistake is all, thank god it's a walk away lease.Wish every company was like that. Sorry I responded to your only crst L/O thread.

Dispatch will run you the same just keep in mind you are on your own. But its ok of you know the trucking biz. I would recommend Crst to anyone with at least 2 years experience.

I am an O/O, but at one time before I bought my truck and leased on with them, I was considering the Lease Purchase deal. What I did was started pouring over all the CRST Threads and found those that were doing the L/P Deal and started sending them pm and got alot of good info from them on the deal.

It did not sway me to buy instead of leasing as I already had a Daycab and was gonna need to do something with it so decided to trade and go the O/O route.

Again, I know you were looking for L/P people, just wanted to let you know how to find them by reading the CRST Post, alot of them to read but you can find many on them that are L/P. Running Man was one that I even called up and spoke to, super great guy.

Ok if u lease on with Crst and get one of there trucks until the truck is paid for u are not going to make anymore money than a co driver because u have more bills
Truck payment range 315.00 to 450.00 a week ,truck ins 75.00 a week ,bobtail ins trip pack , Qualcomm ,2000.00 bond ,2000.00 permits, physical damage, and there is 1 or 2 I missed u are going to have most of that if u get a truck at Crst or form someone else
Now here comes the big money grab u get all maintance done at no cost if u get a 3 year lease the last year of lease is ONLY PM stuff brakes ,oil changes ,tiresect.
U have to pay for the major stuff A/C ,turbo, transmission
Then u have to pay .14 cents per mile all miles so if u run team or train and u run 5500 miles a week that is $770.00 hope u got all of that so sample run

    816 mile run
    Rate 1.53 =1248.48= 70 percent to u 873.94
    Fuel surcharge .39= 318.24 = 97% to u 308.69
    Total 1182.63
Sounds good and it is now take ou fuel for trip a good starting point is 6.5 mpg
    Need 126 gallons at 3.85 = 485.10 in fuel
.14 per mile on lease 114.24
    Down to 583.29
O crap I forgot take 250.00 out of that for taxes because u are responsible for federal and state taxes
I paid 7000.00 dollars the first quarter of this year now my truck is paid for so I have no deduction on that u will
Getting back to the .14 cpm if u run 5500 miles a week take that for a month 3080.00 now o can go if u have so so credit to some place like arrow truck sales 4000.00 down and they match up to 4000.00
Now don't buy the first truck u see GET the Spec's on the truck get the print out of the ECM call RIG DIG (car fax for big trucks) truck lots will try to sell u the first truck in line
Research the truck check it out tell them u want to take it to a engine shop not a dealer and engine shop have it put on a dyno and have the blow by checked
This is a start hope this will help
