Just applied to CRST so I can upgrade my cdl-b to an 'a'. I got an email from a recruiter to contact him so we can go over my application. I contacted him & had some general questions. This recruiter acted upset with the questions, talked to me like I was third class junk & told me to call him back later. With recruiters being oh so pleasant, I can't wait to meet the friendly staff at the school. If they except my app of course.

I'm really surprised because I think they get a commission. When I was first calling around trying to decide if I was going to make the career switch, the CRST recruiter I talked to was trying to send me a bus ticket 3 minutes into the call.

You'd think a recruiter/commission maker would be like a used car salesperson. Not this one. This guy is either busy as H*LL or he didn't get N**KY last night from his wife or girlfriend. As a matter of fact I'm about to call him back.
Just called him back. No answer x 3. That's okay. They've gotta be busy. Whats that saying? Try & try again.Last edited: Aug 21, 2012

Here's a tip RUN LIKE HELL from CRST. Avoid companies that really promote the leasing (fleecing) of drivers.

I might just work for this % load steel hauling company I know in Detroit utilizing my class-b. At least I'll get seat time. The 'megacarriers' don't seem a viable choice right now. Thanks for the tip lonewolf4ad.

Now my husband had a really bad conversation with a recruter for J.B. Hunt, which we both found odd as we had heard good things about them.
I'm going to guess that even somone on commision could have a bad day. -
Im heading to CRST the 27th for refreasher and work. Katie my recruiter was the same way about the phones. call and no answer, leave a message and a few days they call back. Just getting the exp to go do something local.

This may be off the subject. But I got this off CRST's website. After training & into orientation.
DOCUMENTS FOR ORIENTATION
The following is very important. Please double check that you have them before you leave your
school and/or home to travel to the Orientation site.
Social Security Card
Make sure your card is an original social security card and not a stub, or a copy. The name
on the social security card must match the name on your drivers license, Medical Card
and INS Documents. If your social security card is valid only with an INS authorization, then
you must provide your INS documents. Further, your INS card must be current and cannot
expire for at least 8-months.
Valid Class A CDL License with HazMat Endorsement
You must have the Class A CDL before going to Orientation but you are not required to have
a Hazmat endorsement at that time. You will, however, need to apply for a Hazmat
endorsement within 60 days of being hired by CRST Van Ex. Less than 10% of CRST Van
Exs freight is low grade HazMat such as paint and liquid solvents and cleaners. In some
situations, small amounts of HazMat freight are not placarded, i.e., the freight does not
require the driver to have a HazMat license endorsement. In these situations, you will be
moving HazMat freight, even while in training.
Application Information
All questions regarding your driver application should be resolved before you leave
school and travel to the Orientation site. If not, discuss with your Recruiter. As a minimum,
you should bring with you all phone numbers with the dates of all the places you have worked
the past three years. Also, bring along your tax returns, W-2s, pay stubs, or log books to
verify your employment. This is a requirement set by the DOT to ensure we have verified your
employment history for at least the past 3 years
