Going With CRST, Starting On January 14 At Waterloo
Hey everyone, im going with CRST next month my class starting on January 14. I've been studying the CDL manual for a week now and feel ready. My recruiter told me they are sending me to the school in Waterloo, dont know much about it but I heard its a great school. Trucking been always my thing, but everytime Iam about to start something comes up but now since I got everything all set up I will be starting next month. To be honest CRST is not a company Iam planning to stay with, just do my 8 months and leave after. I know I will have a hard time in the beginning but since Iam starting out new, the pay is not something Iam worrying about right now so I will stay strong. Only thing on my mind is about driving with another person for 8 months, that I will not like. I also think hometime might be a problem especially if we dont live in the same city. Right now it dont matter about the hometime and how long I stay out, its about how getting home when driving in teams. What Iam expecting at this company, is to see at least 5000-6000 miles because their pay is really low in the beginning. I dont want to be sitting and waiting a lot of times. I also expect that their trucks are in good condition, even if they are not new but their fleet has mostly Volvo's, and Volvo trucks are large and it be better for teaming. Also I expect that I get a good trainer to teach me well cause Im always eager to learn new things. Hope that the school they send me to is also good on teaching, and will work with me hard. I know I will do my best, not planning to go out and play because this is something serious to me. I also will try to have a good relationship with the company so I dont have a to much of a hard time. Currently right now I dont know what im missing, but the questions I do have right now is how much money will I need to go with, how is their training is like, other helpful information about the company and what I might be expecting from CRST

Plenty of info on this site about CRST. Good and bad and more bad. But it is what you make of it. Go in with the right mindset. Expect the worse and hope for the best. Do your time and move on. Better times await after the first year or so. Stick it out. Let me know how you do. Good luck.

Watch your checks very carefully. Keep #### good records and be ready to spend lot of time on phone to get paid all your money. This is from my old bosses son who went there. Liked most people but did have a lot of trouble with payroll. Did a yr and now has own belly dump working in oil patch. Good luck.

I been studying the manual for more then a week and been practicing on cristcdl.com and the only thing im really nervous about is the General Knowledge test. To me the Airbrakes and Combinations will be easy but the General Knowledge is the main one I need to pass, I could take care of the others.
