First day of orientation for CRST/IMX intermodal

paperwork today, road test tomorrow morning. So far so good...Dedicated account with a major corporation where we pick up from the rails and deliver to Iowa City, Green Bay or Lima Ohio. the pay is pretty good (.36 cpm) benefit package sucks tho. Stay tuned

.36 cpm is good? LOL...... Do they pay you detention or anything when your picking up loads at the rail yard? If you've never been the the rail yards your gonna be in for a surprise when you find out how long youll be sitting there at times with the other 1000 drivers that are there... good luck with that one...

IMX actually turned out to be a cool company to drive for. What they advertise in the Help Wanted posts is true. I realize some may be skeptics due to all the job postings on the net, but it is just as they say. I think in the past they've had some drivers that have not taken care of their new tractors, as some have basic needs; Flat tire, missing keys, bad tire here and there. Once hired, simply go thru the tractor your assigned and Pretrip it and you'll be set. If it needs anything, management will get it rolling for you! (They just need to be informed of the issue.) I think that was a problem in the past.
Management/Driver Managers/Dispatch are all cool. Friendly, willing to crack jokes, willing to hear out any issues you may have, and willing to work with you. Keep in mind, they are very focused on being legal and safe. Safety and Legal are 1st priority.
If you do your job, adhere to safe driving and keep your logs straight (Qualcomm) you will have no issue's. They do have plenty of work. Loads can be anywhere from local one day, to 450 mile roundtrip the next! The loads and money are both there.
Overall, I give them the "Thumbs up." If you're looking to be home daily, need a flexible schedule and can handle picking up and dropping at the railyards daily, it's a great place! Come in, do your job, be honest and bring a good attitude and you'll enjoy driving there!
