Having wrapped up the first week here in my estimation the only drawback to CRST I can see is their recruiting standards could be a bit higher and this in my opinion is the primary reason for their poor reputation. Some people simply don't have what it takes to drive professionally and need to be told that earlier in the process. If after 1 solid week of coaching just on how to pass the CDL general knowledge, air brake and combination tests you still can't get it then I would have serious concerns about putting that person behind the wheel. I may be jaded in that I have experience and walked through all three on day 2 plus tanker and triples tests. Will post more as schedule permits.
Heading to CRST to begin training on Monday Dec 2

I haven't forgotten about this thread but if you can imagine the training program is pretty accelerated. The goal is to get someone who may have zero OTR experience coming in to get on the road in less than a month. I will post more as my schedule permits but heading into the final week with DOT testing in a few days I need to keep my head in the game. I've kept notes so I can post when I have time to arrange my thoughts.

Hey could anybody tell about what all do you have to do when you go try for your cdl test @ crst
-
you will need to pass the general knowledge, air brake and combination tests in order to obtain your cdl learners permit. when you go test, you will have to perform a pretrip inspection, handling skills on a closed course and a road trip with a DOT inspector. if you fail any part you're done for that day but can retest tomorrow.

I'm have my cdl permit already , what handling skills do you have to do ?
-
Straight back, offset back and 90 degree back. If you have a cdl you won't have to take the road test with the DOT but you still have to take one with their school administrator.

Every crst flatbed I see looks like the jingle trucks in afgan and the drivers look like there trucks.
