This morning i was in Lebanon, In. Flying J doing my paperwork. When i see a CRST truck pull up and
Start "Attempting" to back into the stall next to me...

Mind you there were (3) empty stalls to the right of my truck.

After 10 min of watching this poor guy struggle, I hop out and talk to him.. Nice guy, Not so good english...

    Was pretty frustrated with himself....

I offered a few pointers that he had no issues trying out....(Which were successful) He got backed in without tearing off my hood, Which made me happy...

As he was exiting the truck, I kept watching for a trainer to exit also... NEVER HAPPENED!!
I'm floored that CRST would turn guys loose solo that cannot back up into a #### near straight on back stall!!

I feel sorry for the student, And am glad i took some time to help the guy out, As CRST doesn't seem to do #### for them besides throw them to the wolves..

And to think when i called saftey about the truck LAST week, She assured me that THROUGH training is how they handle there business... I call a big BS on that one!!!!:biggrin_25516:

he probably was not cut to be a truck driver, i feel bad for them and i helped a pam transport driver today he was told to get to the dock right next to me and he came he did his setup and he almost hit my truck he tried several times he couldn't get it in there and he had a lot of space i came out to help him out because i didn't want him to hit my truck i didn't want to go through a police report and questions.

There was a previous thread from a guy who did training in Fontana with CRST, and I clearly remember him saying they did NOT teach them backing skills, that was to be done on the road with their trainer (team/student/idiot).

How the DMV can let CRST self certify these kids is beyond me.

Anyway - good on you for helping him . . . issues aside, he's still a fellow human.

How would safety know that company has complete thouroughal training, they're in a cubical all day on the phone and computer.None of the depts. have no clue what the training is like and don't care either. As long as they're making money that's all they care about.I would say most of the preventable trucking accidents are done by newbies and sleep has nothing to do with it.Lack of training, poor trainers turning the students loose before they're ready are all factors.Companies have no idea what goes on out there although they get many accidents daily but don't see anything wrong.A bunch of cluelss ppl in this industry.

CRST does not retest when the trainer cuts them loose, then they team them up, the new driver gets put n available list with dispatch, unless he has a person he (or she )wants to team with. They are not dispatched solo. The first week the trainer is suppose to be in the shotgun seat when the trainee driving. And parked or the end of the trainees shift.

My son is there right now, 4 months into the program. Finding a driver you can tolerate seems to be the bigger issue. At least for him. 4 more months and hes done with crst.

I see nothing in teaming with a complete stranger that appeals to me. Why would you do this instead of solo? It is bad enough if family rides along, forget the money because there is none at the Crash & Roll Stunt Team company.

    Going forwards is also problematic:

I do not know if you have worked for them or not, But I do know that while I read here week after week drivers complaining about not getting miles, CRST has loads, they do not sit. They deadhead at the same rate as loaded. So far the driver he has been with have been alright, he's not getting rich but he is paying his bills. One phone call gets the driver replaced when there is a problem. So as far as a training company there are certainly worse. I for one do not throw stone at issues unless I have first hand knowledge of them. As far as a career move no he won't be staying there long. There is a good job worth about 80K per year waiting for him to finish his first year.

    Good Luck and God Bless
