Ok here is how this works. Law runs plate or vin# a stolen hit comes back from idacs from the law enforcement agency who took the stolen report. Police dispatch sends switch message to law enforcement agency that entered the stolen vehicle or trailer or what ever confirming it is still stolen. Person who has stolen item goes to jail. The only one who can remove a entered stolen vehicle etc. is the origional agency that put it in the system. And one police dept can't call another on phone it must be a switch message. Sounds like the trailer had been stolen and it was recovered prior to you being arrested but never removed from the system by the the origional that entered it.

The company offered us three hours detention. They don't care and they don't want to pay...for now. I'm not mad at the cops, they did what they are paid to do. It would have been nice if the cops would have held us in a holding cell until they sorted things out. My beef is not with the cops, for now anyway.

That's what I'm thinking only way the police would have taken it if they had both reg and proof they worked there ( unless OP is a O/o)

Did you indeed accept the 3 hours detention pay? I know you said it was a slap in the face, but did you accept it?

With these large companies it could happen just by failing to send an attached message when hooking to an MT.

No truer words their. One of the companies that my husband worked for "lost" a trailer ( or just lost track of it), they offered a "reward" to the driver who found it. We asked a couple months in a row if it had ever been found and it hadn't, one of the office Ladies said they finally had it reported stolen. So what ever wharehouse or drop yard that trailer was sitting at waiting to be loaded, now has a "stolen" trailer.... the driver who pick's it up... hosed if they don't get it taken taken off the stolen list.

I think i'd want more in the way of compensation than 3 hr's detention, that was the companies mix-up... not the police and not your's. Sorry that happened to you.

( funny story, I had a cop stop me once for drinking water while going down the road.... ok so it was flavored water and the bottle looked exactly like a wine-cooler bottle, I still got stopped for drinking water)

Get out of CRST. That's number one. And I would push for something. Anything. I don't know what an attorney could do. But there is no excuse what happened to you.
