No he has 1 year exp and drove 110,000 miles...not a new grad. He is going to hopefully speak to someone tomorrow. He would just drive there and wait it out but we invested so much and do not have spare money for him to stay in a motel while waiting for them to fix things. He wasn't sure where he was to even pick up the truck until Thursday, and truck id and car rental emailed friday , 2 days ago. He was to be there today to go out tomorrow with a student.

if he is going to be near the Riverside CA terminal they have Dorm rooms there us on the malone side cant use them but he should check into it being on the Van Ex side doesn't hurt to ask and it wouldn't cost anything upfront they would probably payroll deduct it after he gets going

I cannot believe someone is going to sign a lease for a truck sight unseen ! The majority of lease agreements , are not in the driver's best interest, and CRST has a reputation of not being in the driver's best interest ! I would write off the $200. AND RUN VERY FAST FROM CRST !!!! Also 1 year & 110,000 miles is really no experience (not to be training someone)

I'm sorry, but I have to agree.. hubby should cut his losses. Now, I've run for a fleet owner leased to CRST Malone, and that was a good experience for me, but no way in hell could I ever endorse their lease purchase... well, I'd never endorse any lease purchase program, period, but the whole "sight unseen" thing is the real killer for me.
On a side note, and call me crazy for thinking this if you will, but I think that, if a company is leasing used trucks which have already made their money for the company, the least the company leasing them should do is put four new batteries, 10 fresh tires, and new brakes on the trucks, rather than having the lessees play the crap shoot, "oh, maybe I'll truck with 80% rubber, or maybe I'll get one with 50%" game. But nevermind me.
Back to the point... it wasn't the most well thought-out decision on his end, and you're going to feel the consequences of it. Cut your losses, move on.

Whats Wrong with Sight unseen, they Fix anything wrong with the truck at their own Expense and Defer all payments until your on the road and rolling, If i had better Credit or 20k stashed away i would have never leased a truck but beggars cant be choosers, you just gotta make the best of what your getting, Agree with the last part.

The whole "sight unseen" part. Have you ever bought a car sight unseen? If not, why not?

Anything throwing active codes, perhaps. Doesn't mean that's everything which is wrong with the truck, and that's why sight unseen is a bad way to go. If everything on the truck was fixed, why do we even have this topic here?

Its not a Raw deal if you get a Initial bad truck then yeah its a rocky start, however as far as a Malone L/P goes we pay $12cpm for maintenance which is more like a insurance policy because regardless of how expensive the repair is Vs how much you've paid in will be covered at no cost to the Contractor for the first 2 years of a 3 year lease so yeah they have replaced my turbo, EGR Valve, EGR Motor, Crankshaft Damper, High Pressure Fuel Pump, 3 Injectors, I got 10 new tires last year, New Brakes, New Drums, and last year they spent about 6 or 7k fixing the A/C in the truck, and when i go home on the 24th the truck is going into Clark Power in Knoxville to have the Head Gasket Replaced its Seeping Oil, and if its cost more than the $0.12 cpm i pay i have no ideal because i dont have to pay for it, and as im entering the final phase of my lease im Crawling over this truck to make sure Every last thing i find is fixed before I'm Responsible for paying for repairs

Not only that but why is the wife or sig other doing all the talking? And yes he has no where near the time on the road to be a trainer. to tell the truth it sounds like he needs a trainer.$7000.00 for school how is that CRSTs' fault. You cant count that as truck investment, maybe both of you need to go back to school.I never knew Malone to have trainers or teams anyway, and I had trucks on with them since they took over George Transfer in 1996.Has he ever went down off of pipestone with 50000 on?This sounds more like a Van EX deal than a Malone deal, because Malone has very little freight for flats out of the Northwest. Carmillia can't even load her trucks out of Montana and she is a Malone agent or used to be as I haven't talked to her in years. If you use the loadboards you will really get beat up because CRST still takes their percentage out of the rate you negoeiate. which will be about 1.40 a mile with no fuel if you are luckey enough to get that much.At 1.40 brokered your truck money will only be 1.05 a mile. That is not very good if you ask me.Plus who pays the trainee you or CRST? The get rich quick big money fast lease purchase can chew you up and spit you out real fast if you don't know what to do and how to do it.Myself I hope it works out for you but after reading your posts I do not think it will.

If CRST is going to fix the truck and pay for all of the repairs, then this really isn't all that big of a deal. He will be starting with a whole lot of new parts and from the sounds of it, a new motor. The hard part for him will be sitting and waiting for the repairs to be completed but then he should be ready to hit the road and start making some money. I hope you folks have a second income or some savings to tide you over for a while. It will take him some time to start making any money more than what he has to spend on the road. If CRST's lease program is like everyone elses, it is designed to keep him on the road running rather than spending much time at home. If you have a second income then he will be able to spend more time at home, if you are dependent upon his income alone, he is going to have to run hard to send money home each month. Good luck to you and your husband, I wish you the very best.
