CRST Naval Division

I lived in an apartment in Denver north of the old Lowry AFB years ago... down stream of the "runoff dam." The stream that lead out of it dived through some culverts after leaving the base so most folks didn't know it was a storm drainage area. In front of the apartment house, the street dipped down, and then came up into an intersection... and the "stream" flowed through culverts about 50' from there.

So... every heavy rainstorm, the area in front of the apartment would flood leaving a large pool of water in the street- just like you see CRST driving through. Except that street dipped down. A lot. Inevitably, someone would come along, stop, look at the pool, and decided to chance it. And (inevitably) they'd get out in the middle, stall, and realize that the water was up to their windows.

The reactions at that point were of course, priceless!

 

So did he make it? Looked like he was getting pushed sideways a little towards the end there. The force of water is something you really don't want to underestimate. I remember when I was living in the Shenandoah Valley in Virginia, and you'd have these low water bridges on some of these backroads... they were just flat, nothing on the sides, etc. Never saw anyone get pushed into the river, per se, but I've seen more than a few close calls.

 

I would have drove that gold nugget through there too. Water was only halfway up the concrete divider.
