When I was a trainee it didn't make a difference on how much the the trainee made. Its a perk for the trainer, there running like a team and the trainer is making more money. Regardless who you train under you want a trainer who is going to take the time and show you right. If all the trainer cares about is $$$ it hurts the trainee because you get out on your own not knowing the right way to drive. When I was a trainee the training pay sucked. Trainees won't make money until they start running on their own, puttin the work in and running smart. This is also gonna depend on if your getting miles and the freight is there.

Should try not to think about the money your first year, you want to place yourself in a situation to drive safe, and keep a clean/accident free record. Ok from my experience an O/O will get more mad at you if you grind gears/mess up his truck, and if he is afraid you will mess up his truck, he will restrict your driving. A company driver will only do the same if he is worried about his safety. Show both people you are eager to learn, drive safe, and GOAL when backing up, and take pride in your work. Ask questions, if you have a choice I would pick company drivers because most O/O are type A personalities. Best trainers I had were usually the hardest working of the company drivers.

You will not get rich quick , so if thats your thought you may want to look into something else.

And if you are talking about "you" as a trainer and your new . Do us all a favor and learn how to drive before you try and teach someone else all the bad habits you pick up.. And yes I am pretty new , but not in my wildest dreams would I ever think of training someone at this point..

Oh , not trying to be rude by any means..:biggrin_25513:
