I don’t say this to often, but you obviously don’t read post in their entirety. Nor do you make simple observations out in the real world.

Malone’s Agent list had only 90 agents. Only 37 of the phone numbers on that list were current.

(Note: Landstar has over 1400 agents and most of the 37 on Malones agents list were also Landstar agents.)
(Note: Landstar has a lot of those 1400 agents that are not honest. There are ways to protect yourself.)

My assigned agent was Tammy in Kennedale. She got me loaded until Landstar contacted them for employment verification. Then she didn’t get me one more load.

I got the rest of my loads from CH Robinson or Landstars Broker board until Landstar qualified me.

I’ve been driving for 3 and a half years. Owned my own truck for the last 2 and a half years. Last year I drove 7 out of twelve months and was home for 5.

I’m pretty sure I know what it takes to run a truck OTR.

Malone has one of the highest turn over rates in the industry. Just like CRST’s dry van division.

I mean c’mon, if you just look at the average Malone truck on the road you’ll see that they are having hard times.

And if you just talk to as many Malone drivers as you can at truck stops I find that most will tell you not to sign on.

I did find what I was looking for. Truck paid off, plenty of home time, high paying light weight loads.

Then the economy turn and the rates dropped.

And now you got CRST Malone, TMC, and all those other cheap freight hauling companies still pulling the cheap stuff and lowering the rates even more.

I hope that you find what you are looking for and if you don’t I would at the least hope that you find something sensible to post about. Someone might believe you and not be able to keep their truck.

We were in orientation with Malone. I said I could do the paperwork, run loads and work the phone, as my husband's business partner. I sat through orientation, read the manual - this is our business! I do paperwork and make calls, pay bills. I know how to drive the truck, but I'm better with money, paperwork and people.

We were turned on to an agent who pays in dollars per mile, not cents. We don't have to call an FM with Malone to ever get a load. We might have a really sweet deal. I will run the numbers beforehand and give Malone 3 weeks. Rest assured, I know they subsidize from drivers, on pennies. I keep books and I'm a cheap #####. I will call and argue to the ground for 50 cents, coming to us.

Out of all the drivers this past week, my husband was the only one referred as an OTR driver to a specific agent and encouraged to come for a meeting. We both will meet with him on Tuesday, because we ran out of time on Friday. I like the set up, so far.

When I was a kid, my dad's dispatcher was a family friend, as well. We stayed at her house, when we were in town. I hope we like this guy and he likes us.

My dad was with a company and a dispatcher for over 20 years. That's what I want.

I currently have a truck with CRST flatbed. unless you are an attorney....
( do not ) sign there contract,,,, i am currently trying to find x employees,, owner operators, and x crst owner operators who have had there credit ruined by crst and have been riped off by there unorthdocks ways of doing business.... explanations in pay sheets,,,, un afiliated trucking charges....
Who taught these people how to do accounting. ( federal law ) Itimezed statement..... 2 - all federal laws apply... Federal motor carrier,, these people think they are above the law.
3 - where as- conformation sheet... I wonder if any so called broker know it is a federal law to supply an owner operator with a conformation sheet,,, Where as any contract carrier hiring said sub contractor pay said subcontractor percentage shall provide said conformation pay sheet.... in laymens terms,,,,, verify your percentage of said load..... These people have been ripping us off long enough. x employees who can verify any of this are urged to contact us..... paper trails are every thing,,, faxes, e mails... print them, don't delet them. we are looking for a class action law suite,,,,,,,put them out of business.

I'm an Ex. O/O with Malone. I worked for them for 1 month. I noticed that you only have one post? Did you run out of steam? I know Malone is not in the habit of Faxing a load sheet to the driver. And they discourage you from seeking a copy from them once the load is delivered.

    Hello All...
I have just sat here at my home , here in ND and read all the post about Malone... There are a few things that i agree with, but most i do not...
I SPENT 5 YEARS with Malone... and before the ecomony went deep south , I did really well with Malone... For 3 years strait i averaged to my truck between $170,000 to $200,00 in gross revenue ...
The last 2 years was very bare and i have to admit that , but its just the truth...
(and by the way... i own my own truck and its not painted gold either )
Out of all the agents of CRST MALONE... I enjoyed working with Gene and Debbie Wolfe out of Atlanta, GA... They helped make me a lot of Money, Then you Have Mark there in Tenn. He also had great freight that paid in DOLLARS...
Yes I do agree that for the most part the AGENTS that own several trucks... As an O/O You will sit and the agents will cherry pick the loads and put the best loads on thier personal trucks... I know this to be very , very true...and i am not going to mention any names....
But getting back to me.... I just flat out refused to haul any cheap freight what so ever....my moto has always been ... leave the cheap freight on the shippers docks or yards.... its not going on my truck... I have dead headed my truck 2,000 miles and it did not bother me one bit.... i can and do write 100 percent of the dead head off my taxes...
I have sit out in Ontario, CA for 3 weeks , at the T/A east... But when i left there i had a $2.75 a mile load on my trailer going all the way to Boston... When i unloaded i hung around for a couple of days , there was nothing up there but cheap freight , so i just dead headed back to South Carolina... no Problem...and loaded back out for Sheila there also in NC. Another $2.25 a mile load with $75.00 stop pay...
Now Lets get back to Malone...Anytime I needed anything all i did was just call B'ham, if i wanted cash it was there within 10 minutes... if i needed 10 brand new Goodyear tires, I called the Presedent... Shepard.. No Problem... If I boroke down and needed something , no problem... I got my truck fixed and i was on my way... No Problem.....
Now i know that you are reading this and saying to yourself... this guy is just full of it ! RIGHT ! ! but the simple fact is, when Mr Sheperd pulled up my Financials for the past years.... he saw that i always made money and my Revenue to the truck, i always was usually in the top 10 percent of the companys owner operaters....I did leave Malone this past Febuary and simply parked my truck... Why ... our ecomony now is in the tolit for the most part... Every trucking company's out there has lowered their freight rates, fuel surcharges and the day to day expenses on the truck has risen... we all know this... I dont care if its Landstar , mercer, or joe blow down the street...the fact is that the flatbed, stepdeck and heavy haul freight has dropped in price, simple math... there is just less freight to haul with all the layoff and plant closing's over 10 million unemployeed in our country today...Anytime that there is 10 times the availabe trucks to a load ratio... the rates is always going to drop...

Now today being 12/19/09... I want to wish you all a very wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year...
Please take care and Be Careful of there on our highways and byways....

    Harold

Nice story. My biggest problem when I was there was I was told how drivers like you existed but I could never find one. I talked to as many Malone drivers as I could so that I could learn the system but none were happy. Not a one. I know about the deadhead. I would find loads on the Internet and they (The Agents) didn't want to post them for me. That's when I learned that they couldn't turn down Landstar or CH Robinson loads or Trinity. You see you didn't have to deadhead so far, cause LS or CH or trinity always had loads in those areas. It was part of Malone’s system to force to pull their cheap loads.

I would not trust 601_Superman at all drivers. Do not fall for this crap. Nor Harold 196. They are most likely one of the 30 agents that work for Malone or recruiters. Just my opinion, but I base it off of what I experienced while with Malone.

Lets see three post and not really grounded in reality.....You must be a Agent for Malone.

    Nice try.

Complaint2010 seems to be grounded in reality.
