how could you not look at your paycheck? You sound like you are an expert # crst but you only worked there a short time.

I read as much as I could about them from their website to here to other forums.. i am glad I choose not to go.

Each company has its good and bad points... i think it all depends on your own personal attitude... Be positive try to be informed when making your decisions and make a plan and stick to it
Remeber trucking is a lifestlye not a job

I find it highly humerous that that one driver said they were the best company to start with.
That is insane.
Most of the training companys charge less for there school than CRST, and have it paid off in 12 months. Also they are solo companys, so you are not stuck having your pay depend on someone else driving besides you.
Also 10 cpm of your pay being perdiem is a bit much, espically since it is still low pay, and the perdiem was your money anyway.

I had to do a refresher to get back OTR myself. I have been driving on and off since 1991. Mostly local work though.
More money is there to be made OTR or LTL than local. I am perfectly happy being home 2-3 weekends a month, and having a good milage rate.
I can think of several companys better to train with than CRST though. The problem is that a few of those are not training at the moment, since they do not have the turnover they use too.

Nobody should ever plan to go more than a few weeks with no pay though. Sure, you will not get paid when at the school. But 1-2 weeks after that you should be getting paid steady. There should never be a negative week as a company driver with any company.

im far from an expert on crst, but im kinda getting effy on going back to tell you the truth. as far as not looking at my check i was more focused on getting loads delivered as i had my step mom at home look at the financial end. Im leaning more towards werner or cre right now just to get my exp up. Once again I only have 4 months, hardly any in the winter time.
