| I dunno..but I just responded to a thread where the guy was getting .11 a mile. He's been with them 4 months. As a team I assume. When hell freezes over...would be my hire date at that place.

| confirm the pay. .11 is not correct!! I am a CRST trainer, .11 cents per mile is misunderstood. starting out is 50 bucks a day under contract, for 28 days. Then you bump up to .22 per mile, .10 cents of that perdium (non taxed), and .02 cents of the .22 cents is charged for processing the perdium. Sucks for the charge, but that is in the contract you sign. CRST is not a bad company, as many other state the opposite. If you question them, might I reccomend talking with comparible training companies, like CRST, to find out if they have the same issues. If not by all means, go there. But, don't forget the contract with CRST if you are under one. |

It would also be fair to say, hell would freeze over before I would recommend anyone to them. I don't care how dire the straights you are in. There are many companies out there, that pay, treat, and train drivers better. Even students. Many of which will start a newly hired team of 6 months or less experience, at .40 plus a mile split. Per Diem is for suckers, or child support evaders.

| I don't like team driving! When I'm asleep, the truck is parked! I see CRST tends to sit a day or two up in new england.I've seen CRST rigs parked at Flynn's Truckstop in Shrewsbury,Mass for three days at times. Is long haul freight that slow? Are their any solo CRST drivers?

| Parked in New England I won't lie to you. there are times that you will sit for 1, 2, or maybe 3 days. That just means there is no frieght in the area to get you out of there. After driving a while, you learn the places where allot of frieght goes in and little goes out. AT LEAST, for CRST. This is normal. Be readilly available, on time, and willing to give a little, get in good with your dispatcher, as you are his crutch, and he is yours. It will do you good. NO company can tell what the future is of frieght in the area that you are in. But some, track patterns, 1 week loads may be heavy on Ohio, but nothing in Indy IN. If the companies trucks are sitting, common sense tells you that company is not making any money either. Do you really think that is the way a company survives. It is all part of the job. It doesn't last forever. NE corner of the US is generally slow for outbound long haul frieght. At least from my experience. Good luck!! |

| perdium When I began with CRST, I had no choice on whether to take the perdium or not. From recent students that I am training now, they are telling me that they have the choice. It is my understanding that CRST decides whether you qualify for it or not. I don't know how they determine that though. Check with the payroll department or Safety whe nyou are in orientation. Basically, it is the difference of getting more or less back on your tax return at the end of the year, so either way it is going to turn out the same, except for the .02 charge for processing the perdium. This part sucks. Goook luck. |
