I am a crst driver in the Michigan Area. I am a new driver. I completed my CDL training in June. I have only been driving about 6 weeks now. I have a clean driving background, I am a male smoker. I have completed my hazmat test and am just waiting for my finger print process to complete To give you a little background on myself. I was in the navy for 4 years, I have been married 36 years and I have lived in Michigan all my life. Last edited by Brickman; 07.20.2008 at 10.20 AM. Reason: removed advertising

Keep me posted about CRST I am also thinking about getting my CDL and possibly doing it through CRST. What did you think of your training and where did you do it? We are both about the same age and I am also prior Navy. Seems to be a lot of negative chat about CRST so want a new guys opinion. My wife and I are full time RVers and can go about anywhere for school but want to stay in the south. Can you have riders ( I read somewhere you have to have a year under your belt) and can you have pets. Thanks a lot.

The school i got sent to was terrible, no lying about that, but again these are not CRST schools but third parties. At orientation, You're given the chance to review the school they sent you to and after a few horrible reviews the school is no longer used by our company. HOWEVER, the training i was given by my lead driver was incredibly valuable and has helped me to advance my career within CRST.

Went thru crst training 4years ago and still drive for them company 2 + years now buying a truck thru them. Don't know anything about any schools in the south but i can give u the school i went thur was in cedar rapids [live there] at kirkwood comm. collage was very good crst is in the stages of complating there new training center in cedar rapids if u have an rv that will save u money because u will not have to pay back the cost of being housed at there training center 3.5 million dollars center with a new student housing {hotel] on site anything u can do for your self {housing, paying for your schooling up front if u can,get your self to a teraminl for orientation] will save money and start your pay a little higher. If you go to there web site it will show u the cost if u pay up front it is kind of hard to find if u can't let me know in i will sit and put it on here how to find it. crst is still a family run business. witch in these hard times is good because they don't have to answaer to stockholders and they have no debt if u look around u will find that there are a lot of trucking co. having a tough time right now that is because they are in debt or have to answer to stockholders Me and my wife team drive and run 5500-6500 miles a week and are making anywhere from 8,000 to 13,000 a month after truck payment and cost for all the other things that go with owning a truck and we get home once a month we like taking the first week of every month off because freight is slower at the first of the month as to the end of a month. I have never driven for another trucking co. only crst 4+ years and have had no problem{ok 1 or 2} now that is not to say that people have not had problems but if u read the post on here most are young and work ethic maybe lot different. as for training when u get done there are good lead trainers and a--holes al i have to say is us your best judgment if it is not working out then ask for a new lead trainer I am a lead trainer when my wife takes time of in the summer and i treat my students like i wanted to be treated when i was a student u are to have a review each week with the trainer and call dispatch each week to let them know how things are going and a review after your training is over.
