:biggrin_25513:Yes I agree with you 100%. Not a good idea to become a trainer if you had not driven in the winter.
Winter is very hard n scary if you don't know what you are doing.

Yeah that's pretty stupid, that's why if I'm at a terminal during any orientation I talk to the new students and let them know they should talk to their trainer before they leave the yard and if they don't want to go with that person then they don't have to. I was at 3 years b4 I tried to b a trainer. Turns out I knew what I wanted them to learn, knew what they NEEDED to learn, and was able to do it sufficiently. I got a good review from all my students, but personally didn't think I was as good as my trainer was, so here I am just co-driving again.

I was hearing that teams split .47 cpm. They all seemed like "newish" drivers with limited exp. to me. Avg miles per week were reported to be ~5000.

    That was the OKC terminal.

[CCOLOR="Blue"]We as a team can get over 5500 mm per load, pay scale depends upon experience,
if you start w/contract you will get.22c x m. If you had your cdl you can start making .33cm it goes up every 6mo you get.1c increase.and i Think until it tops at .44cm. you could be a trainer an make more.

ill just throw in my experience here with crst, me and my codriver were a tier 2 team, only reason we werent a tier 1 was because of our experience we were both new. Things were going good the first couple of months we were averaging about 5000 - 6000 miles a week. Then it started slowing down for us not that we werent getting loads, but we were getting loads a solo person can run in 1 shift if not less (150 mile loads) something a team shouldnt run I dont think. This started after they put us in a new 2009 columbia. And like i said me and my co driver drove hard we put in the miles and were never late to an appointment. Not sure if it was our dispatcher or not but thats how it was for me. Wasnt making enough to support myself so I dropped out. CRST is a good company to start out with and get your experience, some drivers stay longer. It just depends on the person. They made my co driver a trainer after 4 months, just without the title, he basically took students that only needed like 2 weeks of training. He told me the dispatcher asked why he wasnt running like he used to. He told him that was when I had Chris as my codriver. So take my info as you want. Im not bagging on CRST i enjoyed my time with em. Good luck with your training!

    Question about contract?

Is this for the folks who come to CRST without a CL A CDL?

Not understanding the contract thing. I went to the website (www.joincrst.com) and I wasn't able to hunt down any contract info.

    thanks

I am getting my CL A on Friday 10/23 and have a choice between Werner or CRST. Both team situations. Thoughts?

if crst pays for your training ie you go to a crst school you will be on an 8 month contract. if not you will still go on the 28 days of training with a trainer but you will be paid by the mile at i think 32 cpm

Either you guys are wrong or i'm getting royally screwed. i started 4 months ago with crst had my cdl with full endorsements before going to crst. just had no experence, and they started me out at 22cpm. at 4 months im only making 23cpm. i was told that the contract students started off at 50 dollars a day or something around that. I do know that they keep changing the pay scale.

Does it depend on which recruiter you speak to and how low they can go and get you to come to their training program.

CCOLVIN...are you talking 31cpm for someone who comes with CDL and 2 years verifiable OTR?
