If anyone is thinking of taking Dart Transit Co. up on their offer of buying a truck through them, run, run, run. As a trucker's wife, we have had nothing but the absolute worst experience possible. No income, no home time, and the worst possible dispatcher on earth. We had such high hopes of owning our own truck. We discussed the process with a Dart recruiter who made it sound so enticing we couldn't say no. Think again. It is what we were not told that is so bad.
Our dispatcher is Satan in disguise. Wants the load delivered even if it means blowing the engine. Truck broke down after only 3 weeks on the road and her response was to drive it over two hundred miles with a bad sensor. Hubby refused, took it to get fixed and was told that he could have very easily blown a piston. She told us that if the truck blew up, it was our responsibility. We wouldn't have a truck and we would still have to pay for it. Luckily, it is still under warranty and was fixed. Lost the load though and now in limbo as to when he will get another. Since she is mad at him, may be another week.
He hasn't been able to get home at all. Puts in for home time and is totally ignored. We understand that running pays for the truck, but a few days home would be very nice. We did not realize that this arrangement meant staying on the road 24/7/365. I do need him home to restock his food supplies, take care of a few things, and then go back OTR happy.
The income is also not what we were told. Let me put it this way-- WHAT INCOME? After they take out for the truck note, insurance, fuel, etc., there is no money left. Especially if you get the dispatcher that we have. If she gets angry with you in the very least, your not moving an inch.
We are very disillusioned at this point and are thinking about leaving trucking all together. I just don't understand why this company has to lie to sell their trucks. Please - beware of this company. I don't want anyone to have to go through what we have gone through.

BUT,BUT,BUT it's "HIS" truck isn't it? then if he's sitting get on line and find your own load. It's not that hard and even truck stops still have the load boards! Just call about a load and then call Dart or that idiot dispatcher or HER BOSS about the load. If they don't want to haul freight then tell them you'll be sending them a bill for fuel burned sitting and what you believe your time is worth while sitting. If that doesn't work tell them you're moving to a better location where there might be freight or you're heading home until they can come up with freight to haul.
I mean you're paying all that money to operate a truck, can't you get your own loads when that oh so freaking good company can't find a load and you see them on the load board in the area you're sitting in? And it's your truck and fuel head home. Heck you're loosing money sitting might as well loose it at home correct? HMMMM
Oh, I forgot you're LEASING a truck and didn't even check up on that fleece program! Just believed a SALESMAN and that's ALL a recruiter is is a salesperson who lost their job as a used car salesman!! I guess you finally figured out that only bottom feeders of the human race screw company drivers into paying for the operating costs of a POS truck! ROFLMAO!the baltimore porkchop Thanks this. -

I spent about 3 years leased on to dart....It wasnt to bad but I will agree that leasing a truck from the company your signed on with is almost always a bad idea. My thinking on that is you need to take away as much leverage as you can from the carrier. Carriers are like fat kids, if you dont keep an eye on them they will steal all the cookies out of your jar! I had bought my truck through the freightliner selectruck program (dont get me started on that!) although I still needed to run to make the payments, I wasnt under their thumb ... meaning if they pissed me off enough they knew I could tell them to go scratch and take my truck somewhere else. It seemed to even the playing field a bit more. Needless to say my truck is paid off now and im hauling my own reefer trailer and authority ....wich should be the goal of lease operators. especially with the load boards available these days.....hell even jumping through the hoops of H.M.Bay and not getting a great rate pays more than taking .90cpm from dart!

I had the same experience at Dart. Good miles but no pay. If u went home u were so far behind that u never caught back up. Highway Sales and Dart made money but no money for the driver. Spent 4 months with them a waste of time and my money.
