Dart is a horrible company

You DIDN'T work there.....your husband did. Let HIM deal with issues with HIS employer. You wanna call someone and *i*c* about your job? Get a job first!
Nobody likes a spouce calling to b*t*h about someone elses job.

 

dart is a rip off.when your only make 65 for 5 loads.thats a rip off.they sell you a piece of junk trucks.the only place you can get the trucks worked on is at a prostop .and they dont know what they are doing.please beware of this company.

 

These 2 statements seem contradictory...Getting paid in 2 days instead of one broke you and caused overdrafts?...Something doesn't seem right to me, not defending the company, but my embellishment detector is going off...I'm not saying, I'm just saying...

And most companies wait days or a week to pay after a load so 2 days seems fast...

This is good advise for any company, hopefully you took it before starting with Dart...If so, who can you blame?...If not, well, you know who to blame...

 

I have a brother-in-law who is working for Dart now and he brings in very little money every week. When he had a regional gig with another company he was clearing 800 a week. With Dart, he's lucky to clear 400 a week.

You know, I worked for American Eagle from 1995 to 2003, and I heard horror story after horror story from so many of the drivers there. What I came to realize was, 99.999% of the stories I heard were the driver's fault in some way. I started with the company in an old beat up '93 flattop Freightliner that I had to disinfect and never really got the smells out of. It had 270,000 really tough (abused) team miles on it and I seemed to have it in a shop somewhere about every week to 10 days. I bit my lip, said yes Sir and no Sir, and went about my business.

Within three months, I was in a brand new Freightliner Century, plastic on the seats and all. I didn't mind hanging around Lancaster for five days while they installed the graphics and gadgets. It's really funny that I worked there for almost eight years and don't have a single bad thing to say about them or Conwell corp (FFE, now KLLM), the parent company. The entire time I was there I averaged $843.60/week as a company driver, including fuel, safety and logbook bonuses. Perhaps it's because I never refused a load, always delivered on-time, knew how to get around averaging 64mph in my logs legally, had my trucks turned up to 69mph (for $50 under the table to one of the mechanics), and always has a BS little "gift" in my truck just waiting to drop off at the AEL office whenever I went there -- candy, donuts, cake, etc.

In my 37 years in the business I have learned a few things you won't find in the CDL manual:
Respect those who book your work! No matter how rude or arrogant they are to you!
Act professional, even when you don't want to!
NEVER turn down a load!
Treat your equipment like it was yours!
Fix as many small problems as you can, note it on your DVIR and let the dispatcher know as well!
Make sure your paperwork and logs are perfect!

I have been with five companies in 37 years and all five of them treated me exactly as I treated them... I can't complain about any of them.

 

There is a lot to this. This is a summary of what i've learned in the trucking industry.

There are 3 ###es that you kiss... The guy you get your loads from, the guy that writes your paycheck, and the guy that fixes your truck.
There is a learning curve for every aspect of every company, but if you go in with an attitude to succeed, you will. You have to learn your dispatcher, and train them. On the other hand, they have to learn what they can expect from you and will be more inclined to bend to your demands if you teach them that you are a good, reliable driver that gets the job done. Some companies are more difficult to make money working for, but you need to figure out how. Once you do that, you will be fine. but you also need to know when to get out while the getting is good.
