Just finished orientation with Deboer last week, waiting for a trainer. I have to go out 7 maybe up to 14 days. How was your trainer? I can't wait to get out on my own. When you finished with the trainer did you go back to Blenker and take a road test? How was it, can you give me any info? I beleive we have talked on another thread. Where are you from Captain Hook? Thanks

Yes captain hook, I took my road test and I finally have my truck. I leave back out on Tuesday, I got 3 days so I can get the truck ready. How many miles are you getting and what part of the states are you seeing? I did my first load today out of Chicago to Appleton and all went well. So how long are you home for and what are you driving? I got a 03 Kenworth with 580,000 miles, but it is in pretty good shape, I'm not complaining, just happy to finally start driving on my own. Hope to see you out there.

A follow up Well I havent posted on this thread in a good while. Anyway, yes they do hire teams. When I was training we ran like a team truck with the team dispatcher and got close to 5000 miles a week. Not bad. As far as the question regarding your road test upon completion of training at Blenker. It will be with Gerald and you will drive to the small gas station at the end of that county road and back. The hardest part I could think of in the whole test would I guess be turning around in the station. I see they are updating their equipment quite fast. I havent seen a truck number less than 1100 in a long long time. I had a 900 series tuck number with almost 1 million miles. They sold it soon after I started. I got into an 1100 series which are around 2004 models and go up from there. The one thing that was disturbing about them not getting me home was I live within 30-50 miles of 2 of their major paper mill customers. I recently drove local making runs to that very mill seeing deBoer in there every single day. So basically, they just have a preset time they feel like letting you go home. Thats a mere assumption but backed up by the abundance of deBoer trailers sitting at my local mills. deBoer is a very personal company with its drivers however. They know you by voice after a week or 2. So there are benefits, especially to those not interested in a decent amount of home time. Best advice I can give a new driver for deBoer would probably be BEWARE OF EVERY DROP AND HOOK IN OR AROUND CHICAGO. The yard they share with just about everyone in seemingly a small neighborhood is just plain horrible. So, try to get them to run you west =D

Gerald is no longer there. I took my road test and went in Stevens Point to a drop yard and bob tailed back on Wednesday and was issued a truck. It's probably alittle more than the test you said you actually go in town. Went to Chicago to get my truck and went to pick up a load in Chicago area and up to Appleton and then bob tailed home. Will leave on Tuesday for the start of my career in trucking. So far everything seems good with this company, time will tell.

Captain Hook, I went to visit my friend, who also drives and I think I saw your truck you live nearby him. He drives a brown volvo and works for Dart. I have my truck by Judy's and have been loading all my stuff in it the last few days. I leave out tomorrow and have to finish up today. I have a 03 Kenworth with 580,000 miles on it. Where do you all drive? I have to call Barb tomorrow at 8 and see where I am going tomorrow maybe back to Blinker, this truck has not been checked out and I don't know if they will check it out, it does need a few things fixed. Talk to you later.
