Dick Lavy Trucking good points on this company..dispatchers will reply to your qcomm messages..they will run u legal..it is easy to get into the company..and orientation is only 2 days and into the truck you go. they will get you home every weekend. this is where it goes bad. >they pay movers miles. >anything over 600 miles, load planners will schedule it so it takes 2 days to deliver it. cant make money. >they play favorites when freight gets slow, which is frequent with them. >you have to pull teeth to get miles >they love to deduct from your check, and view it as an income source. >they chizle miles off every trip, but this will make you boil.. >you will get a trip say, from massachusetts to detroit. the pay miles for that trip will be 722 miles. the way you would go is 90 MA, 84 W, to 81 S to 80 W to 75 N (a straight line). its roughly 865 miles, but the load pays 722 miles. why? i will tell you why..they route it 90 west through ny state. to 410 through canada, thats right. canada. this way it is roughly 100 miles less. some drivers will attest to this, and catch their carriers doing this to rob you of miles, and try to get away with this. >you have to do this on every trip.(see if you are getting paid for the correct amount of miles, on top of the fact that you are getting paid peanuts and popcorn pay via movers miles. I FEEL THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW. YOU CAN PAY ME MOVERS MILES AND LOW MONEY PER MILE, BUT I FEEL THEY CANT CHIZLE MILES OFF YOUR LOAD. >another example ..a load from dallas to chicago...you would take the turnpikes in oklahoma to get there, but because the company wont route you that way or pay the tolls if you do, you have to take 30 E to 40 to 57, which is more miles. and the paying trip miles on your load will show how they will pay you roughly 100 miles less..and on top of that, the usual deduction that the mover mile scale will subtract. >DONT LET YOUR EMPLOYER CHIZLE MILES. WATCH YOUR BACK. Leave the truck in the yard, and warn others about companies like this one, so that he changes his ways Last edited by ezpickins624; 04.28.2007 at 01.12 PM..

EZpickens.I hear you loud and clear on the household movers guide pay system. Most of the big outfits use it and you are right, you take a royal screwing under this system. You are lucky to get paid for 75%of your actual miles driven.I just retired and my last job was with Roehl transport. They pay on the practical mile system, which aint perfect ,but its a whole lot better than the household movers system. On a lot of my runs I would beat their pd.miles, and many times the pd.miles were right on the money. This makes a world of difference when it comes to getting paid.Just another thing to ck.out when you are looking for a driving job.Example, under the household movers system if you get pd.for 2500 miles you are actually driving about 3000 to 3400 miles to get pd.for 2500.Under the practical miles you would be driving about 2500 to 2600 to get pd.for your 2500 miles.Quite a difference, and remember your logbook has to reflect your actual miles, not your pd.miles.

Ezpickens. Sorry to hear your bad experences. I have to agree with the deal about the house hold movers miles. What get's me the companies wants you to drive fruther burn up more fuel so they are spending 50.00 or more extra on fuel, than pay 10.00 to 50.00 in tolls. Not to mention the extra wear and tear on the trucks.

Coastie,it aint that the truckin companies are routing their trucks and drivers more miles, its just that they are not paying the drivers for the miles they drive.I have heard thru the grapevine that quite a few companies are going to the practical mile pay scale. The only company that I know using the practical mile program is Roehl, although I am sure there are others out there.A lot of these drivers who are only getting 1500 to 2000 miles a week, would be getting about 2500 pd.mis.under the practical mile pay scale. In other words they are actually getting 2500 mis.but they are not getting pd.for it.In my case I was making much more money at Roehl at $.38 a mi.than I was at Swift malking $.40 a mi.

??? Ok, I'll admit that I may be slow, and not always the sharpest knife in the drawer, but what is "CHIZLE MILES?"

| The original poster was referring to tricks the company uses to pay you less money, except he mispelled "chisel".
