    Greetings!!!!

Sitting # the "J" on I-80 in Hubbard, OH. Very light rain falling.

04.26.10: Woke up to a beautiful morning. No snow. Bright sunshine and a temp of 38F. Turned on the QUALLCOM and received a load assignment from Grand Forks, ND to Rogers, MN. DH=08 LD=290. Go in and have a huge breakfast, read the newspaper, and get some coffee. Hop the short distance over to the shipper. A simple drop\hook and in\out in <30". Hop the short distance down to the consignee for a 0700hrs delivery in the AM. Day=295

04.27.10: At cosignee. Very nice people. Live unload. Out in 1.50 hrs.

I am almost out of hours. Only have 3.25 hrs left. Talk to dispatch. Will drive down to terminal and take my 34 hrs restart # home.

Get down to terminal, fuel trk, and drop MT trl. Leave for short drive to residence. Enroute, I receive a call from a family member informing me that my Aunt(my favorite one!!!) had passed away. Her children or my cousins had requested that I be a pallbearer # the funeral. The wake is Friday and the Funeral is Saturday. Contact my dispatcher and inform him of the circumstances and we reset my PTA.

04.30.10: Talk to dispatch. They have a load assignment for me for late Saturday.

Did the wake and funeral with no problems. It was nice seeing so many relatives that I hadn't seen for many years.

05.01.10: Beautiful day. After the funeral, go home and get out of "the monkey suit" and change clothes. Stop # Walmart and get some supplies. Load assignment is Menomonie, WI to (1) Keene, NH (2) Littleton, MA and (3) N. Reading, MA. DH=74 LD=1372.
Go up to terminal and PU MT trl and head over to Menomonie. Simple drop\hook and in\out in 30".
Drive down to S. Beloit, IL and shut down # the "J" for the night. Nice "all-u-can eat" salad bar. Day=323 miles

05.02.10: Nice morning. Heading down I-90 and 40" later I blow a trl tire!!! It's on the outside and I have a light load. Contact shop personnel. I limp down to the TA # Hampshire, IL where we have a national account with. Very nice people in the shop. In\out in 1.25 hrs with damaged tire replaced with one of our spares.
Drive down thru IL,IN, and OH and now in Hubbard, OH where it is raining. Had nice hot shower and nice meal. Will head out in the AM for NH.

NOTE. April was a good month!!! Had 9428 miles with driving 23 of possible 30 days. Had seven(7) days off due to some dental work being performed and the recent funeral.
    Will see what May brings????

    Take Care and be Safe!!!!

05.03.10: Nice day for driving. A lot of construction zones on I-80 thru PA. Made it to Mill Hall, PA and fueled # the Pilot. Continued on to a rest area on I-91 in VT. A short distance from my first stop. Day=574 miles.

05.04.10: Made it to my 1st stop in Keene, NH. A small customer on a busy street. Had to back into their shop across the street. Only way was to first pull into their main driveway and then back across the street into the shop. Thankfully, two of their personnel blocked off the street while I was backing across this very busy street. Was in\out in 1.75 hrs.

Drove the back roads of NH and MA down to the 2nd stop in Littleton, MA. Consignee located at the end of small gravel road. Had to go around the back and do a "jackknife" backing into their dock. Very tight space!!! Very nice young fellow worked non-stop and was out in 1.15". Wow!!!!

Drove the short distance to my 3rd and final stop in N. Reading. MA. Busy street in the town of N. Reading, MA. Very large business(lumber yrd) which uses their grounds for storage. Their unloading dock was located in the back. Surrounded by piles of goods. NOTE: Something that baffles me!!! Here, located in MA, so close to Maine, Vermont, NH, and Canada with their huge supplies of trees and lumber mills, this company has numerous stacks of wood from Cascade, Washington!!!! Why???? Extremely tight backing space!! Took 20" to get to the dock!!! Then it took them 2.50" to unload me!!!
    Sent my MT macro in.

No loads available # this time. Will check in AM.

There is such a critical shortage of TruckStops in the greater Boston area!!! Had to drive 14 miles up to a rest area at the NH border.

    05.05.10: Beautiful day in NH!!!!

Received next load assignment. Go up to Skowegan, ME and pick a pre-loaded trl going to 1) Byron, MN 2) Waseca, MN and 3) St. Cloud, MN.
    DH=188 LD=1738 Good trip!!!!

NOTE: Because our home terminal in located in MN and there is such a large number of our "core" long-term shippers in this area, the company tries to get their drivers back to the MN area as frequently as possible. So that as soon as they are MT, they can hop over to one of these great shippers and grab a preloaded TRL and start running.

However, doesn't pickup until 05.06.10 # 1200hrs. So I'll do an unexpected 34 hr restart and start the morning with a fresh 70 hrs!!!!

Everybody take care and be safe out there!!!!!

    THE IRISH RULES!!!!!

    Greetings!!!!!

It has been a busy non-stop eight(8) days!!!

05.06.10: Received load assignment. From Skowegan, ME to 1) Byron, MN, 2) Waseca, MN and 3) St. Cloud, MN. Dreary morning with light rain, Drive up to Skowegan, ME.

The other ten(10) time I have been at this shipper it has been a simple D&H however, this time it is a live load??? I immediately get assigned a door and back in and wait, and wait, and wait...... No trailer shaking for an hour??? I go back into the shipping office and inquire as to the delay. They can't find my paperwork!!! They check their computer and reprint another set of shipping papers. Five(05) minutes later they are loading my trailer and 45" later I'm out the gate!!! Still light rain. I drive down the road to Kennebunk, ME and shut down the night. Day=311 miles

05.07.10: Nice day for driving. Stop # Sturbridge, MA for fuel. Get to Brookville, PA. Get a nice hot shower and a huge salad. Day=590 miles

05.08.10: Another nice day for driving. Get to Lake Station, IN. Have a couple of polish sausages, soup, and salad(in truck). Will get shower in AM. Day=459 miles

05.09.10: Slight mist early in the AM. Make it thru Chi-Town early with no problems. Stop # Beloit, WI for fuel. Make it to West Salem, WI. Have a couple of great "Coney Island Hot Dogs"!!!!. Day=316 miles.

05.10.10: Made it to the first stop in Byron, MN. Great folks!!! In\out in 30"!!!! Drove over to the 2nd stop in Waseca, MN. Again, in\out in 30!!! Drive up to the 3rd stop. My appt isn't until 1700 hrs. I arrive # 1230 hrs. I am unloaded # 1330 hrs.

While being unloaded I receive my next load assignment. Cloquet, MN to Enfield, CT. DH=128 LD-1397.

I drive up to the shipper and park at a TS a short distance away. Pickup is # 0600 hrs in AM. Day=406 miles.

05.11.10: Light rain this AM. Hop over to shipper. simple drop\hook. 46,300 of paper. I scale out at 79,450!!!

INTERESTING: There are a large number of sawmills and papermills in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. Yet, I bring 45K of paper from Maine to three stops in Minnesota and, I take 79+K lbs of paper to CT!!! Odd?

There is a portion of I-35 south of Duluth and is closed to big trucks. Forced to take a 45 mile detour to get to #53 south of Superior, WI.

I'm traveling down I-90 just south of Madison and I blow a trl tire!!!! NOTE: I had went over two years without a flat tire and now I've had two in two weeks!!!!!
I call the shop and they locate a POMPS in Janesville, WI. I limp over there and 2.5 hrs I am ready to go. Now, we always carry a spare trl tire in a rack underneath our trls. But, there is not enough tread on my spare tire and doesn't meet DOT requirements so the tire staff won't mount it. End up buying a recap!!!
On my way, have to go thru Chi-Town during rush hour!!!! Make it to Howe, IN. I'm exhausted!!!! Day=661 miles

05.12.10: Nice day for driving except for some fog in PA. Make it to Middletown, NY. Alot of construction on I-81 and I-84!!! Day=644 miles

05.13.10: Drive the short distance(142 miles) up to the customer in Enfield, CT. Very nice old man on the forklift. I'm MT in 20"!!! Send in my MT call. I only have 2.75 hrs left for the day!!! I get a call from my dispatcher. There is a load in NJ that is going to Menomonie, WI and that is 151 miles away. I have to inform him of my short hours and I cannot accept the load!!!! Darn!!! Good load. No other loads available Will wait....... Day=142 miles

05.14.10: Received a load assignment. Keasbey, NJ to Janesville, WI. DH=163 miles LD=905 miles. Drive down and fuel # Milford, CT. Make good time until I get within 05 miles of the GW bridge. Bumper to bumper traffic for all 05 miles. No construction or accidents!!! Took 30-40" to go the 05 miles. Make it to shipper. 100 people work here and not one speaks English!!! Not in shipping office, dock, or security. In\out in 2.5 hrs with 4800 lbs!!!!
Make it to Delaware Water gap, PA. Days=271 miles.

05.15.10: Great day for driving!!! Make it Perrysburg, OH. Nice hot shower and salad!!! Day=481 miles.

When I get MT Mon AM in Janesville will have to get load back to home terminal. When MT I will be 1100 miles past due on my scheduled PM svc. Dispatcher is aware of this. When I get to the terminal I will drop off trk and take some days off.

Take care and be safe out there!!!!

05.31.10: Beautiful, but hot, day in central PA. Great breakfast of a Denver Omelot and home fries. Had a great long shower. DAY=0 miles.

NOTE: 05/24/10: It was one(1) year ago that I received this truck. I put 117,857 miles on it. Pretty good considering that I had to take some time off for personal\family issues, medical\dental issues, and the truck had some major "shop time" during this period. Plus, there was a significant downturn in the economy and drop in freight from 06\09-12\09.
I think that the next twelve months will be even better!!!!

You all take care and be safe out there!!!!

Rain and storms in northern Indiana!!!

This will be my last entry\post.

I am leaving Bay and Bay Transport next week.

I hope you all are safe on the road.

Please pray for the survival of our country.

With the current administration in Washington DC I am afraid that we are heading down a steep road that we won't be able to recover from and there are no "run-away" ramps at the bottom.

Take Care and May God Bless!!!!
