With the arrival of the new year I thought I would share with you my experiences with this company.

This is my second "tour of duty" with this company. I was with them from 04/2008-12/2008. I had to take some personal time off because of a situation # home. I returned on 05/24/09.

I received a very fine 2007 Columbia with only 269,030 miles on it. It is in very good condition and has a brand new APU on it. What a difference a APU makes!!!

    For the period of:

    05/24/09 - 05/31/09 = 3870 miles
    06/01/09 - 06/30/09 = 9117 miles with 5 days off
    07/01/09 - 07/31/09 = 10595 miles with five days off
    08/01/09 - 08/31/09 = 10143 miles with 8 days off
    09/01/09 - 09/30/09 = 9451 miles with 7 days off
    10/01/09 - 10/31/09 = 11299 miles with 5 days off
    11/01/09 - 11/30/09 = 10076 miles 4 days off
    12/01/09 - 12/31/09 = 7119 miles with 11 days off.

NOTE: This company pays "Practical Miles" for all loaded and empty miles.

I finished the year with 72,670 miles.
I had some personal issues # home in the months of Aug\Sept and Dec. This company is very supportive of their drivers and requesting hometime and getting home is never a problem.
Also, the support staff in the terminal knows your name(U R not a #) and provides any and all assistance that you may require. Plus, I have never, let me repeat that, I HAVE NEVER had an error on my weekly pay check, You always get paid for all of your miles and any and all accessorial pay. The old ladies that they have working up on the second floor have been there forever and are great!!!!

I am now sitting in Perrysville, OH watching the football games. Since the first of the year I have:

On Friday, 12.31.09 received a load assignment from Dayton, MN with three(3) stops in Dallas, TX, Fort Worth, Texas and Waco, Texas. MT miles=61, LD miles=1167, xtra stops=$60.00.
Made it to first stop with no problems, Appt was # 0900 hrs and there were four trks in front of me, all with 0900 hrs appts!!! Didn't get out of there until 1300 hrs,(2 hrs detention). Rushed over to 2nd stop. In and out in 40 mins!!! Made it to 3rd stop, out in one hr. Long day!!! Received a pre-plan while # stop #2 for next day. Shut down at the "J" in Waco that night.

Next trip is from Grand Prairie, TX to Menomonie, WI. Mt miles=107, LD miles=1055. No extra stops. Drove up to the shipper in the AM, got loaded in 90" with no problems. Drove up to Emporia, KS and shut down for the evening. Made it to Menomonie, WI with no problems, dropped the loaded trl, picked up an empty, and drove to our terminal 71 miles away. Truck into shop for a new fuel line and PM service done. Am off for four(4) days.

On Mon, 01.11.10 received a load from Rosemount, MN to Kansas City, KS. MT miles=0, loaded miles=411. Picked up the ld trl and ran down to the cust and waited in their lot that night for the early 0700 hr appt. Next morning got unloaded with no problems however, there was no paperwork or BOL in the rear of the sealed trl(should have been) so had to wait for 90" for the shipper to FAX a BOL to the receiver. Got that and was out of there!!! The evening before I had received a pre-plan for the next day.

For Tues, 01.12.10 load from Excelsior Springs, MO to Hinckly, OH. MT miles=31, LD miles=773. Had a 1600 hr appt. Called shipped # 1200 hrs and was told the product was off of the production line and to come up early and they would load me as soon as possible. Great I thought!!!! Wrong!!!! I didn't get into a door until 1815 hrs and wasn't completed until 1945 hrs!!! My 14 hr day expires # 2100 hrs. I was planning on driving at least three hrs after being loaded to get 175-200 miles for that day so I could make the appt on time in OH. I now realize that I can't make the delivery on time!!! Contact dispatch and will meet with dvr in IN and switch trls.

Weds, 01.13.10: Made it to Indianapolis, IN with no problem and switched trls. Got an MT trl and a new load. Load from Romeoville, IL to Fridley, MN. MT miles=202, LD miles=424.

Thurs, 01.14.10, jumped up to Romeoville, IL. Arrived 2.5 hrs early and they gladly loaded me upon my arrival with a load of 14,500 lbs. Took off, got out of Chicago before rush hour and made it to Fridley, MN.

Fri, 01.15.10. Dropped ld trl at customer # 0700 hrs. No mts available. Bobtail down to trm. Get MT and fuel. Next load received is from Menomonie, WI to (1) Rochester, NY (2) Kennebunk, ME (3) Rochester, NH
    (4) Plaiston, NH (5) Essex, MA and (6) Beverly, MA. MT miles=104, LD miles=1525, five extra stop pay.
Went over to Menomonie, WI, had to wait until 1630 hrs for the trl to be loaded, Dropped MT trl, hooked to loaded trl while still in dock door and took off. Made it to Madison, WI and shut down for the night.

Sat, 01.16.10. Drove 422 miles to Perrysburg, OH, fueled # the TA, got a shower, bag of chips and watched the football game which New Orleans won in a very convincing manner. Am now watching the 2nd game with Indianapolis Vs Baltimore.

Since the 1st of the year have gotten 4900 miles in 12 days. Should be a good month!!! There is no shortage of freight for us. Have a great customer base.

Going to watch the 2nd game now. Should be a good one!!!

    Take care and be safe!!!:druid:

Yes, they do hire out of the Buffalo area. Being in that area you would have no problem getting home on a regular basis.

Hiring standards are very high. You must have at least two years of experience, no accidents and\or tickets in the recent past. They do a complete background check.

Give Stacie a call # 800-878-8031 and discuss your possible future with her.

    Good Luck!!!

    Update:

01-17-10: Made it to my first stop in Rochester, NY. Stopped at the TA down the road for the night.

01-18-10: Had 0900 hr delivery appt, was there # 0800 hrs, was unloaded in two hours.
Drove over stop #2 in Kennebunk, ME. No overnight parking so had to park in a rest-stop 12 miles from their location.
NOTE: Southern Maine and New Hampshire received 8-14" of very wet heavy snow in the previous 24 hrs. However, the roads were in remarkably good shape. I take "my hat" off to these DOT road crews and offer them "a terrific job well done"!!!

    01-19-10: Arrived at receiver # 0600 hrs for a 0700 appt. So I thought!
They had me down for an 1100 apt!!! Had to wait 2.5 hrs for the unlding crew to arrived. Finally got out of there after 4.75 hrs!!!
Rushed over to stop #3 in Rochester, NH. Was late however, they were very nice and I was unloaded in 1.25 hrs after arrival. Started snowing again. Took off for my stop #4 in Plaistow, NH. Arrived late but again, they were very nice and I was unloaded in 45" I was on a slight incline and my drives started spinning and I couldn't get up this very small hill. They provided a bag of sand and we put it on the snow\ice for the drives, It worked great!!! I was out of there!!! Made it to a rest-stop down the road for the nite.

01-20-10: Made it to stop #5 in Essex, MA. Took them 3.5 hrs to unload me. Took off to the final stop #6 in Beverly, MA. Very nice people!!! In and out in 1.25 hrs. While being unloaded received my next ld assignment. To Ayer, MA and take 44,000lbs of paper to Hartford, WI. LD=1112 MT-49 miles. Nice trip!!!
Jumped over to Ayer, MA. Was 1.75 hrs late for appt. They made me wait for three hrs. Finally got out of there and made it to a rest-stop in Westborough, MA. I knew that MA had an anti-idleing law but what anout these signs that state "all parked trucks must have chock-blocks"???

Hope all is well with everyone!!!!

Sure was great news about the election for Senator in MA yesterday!!!!

Bay and Bay is a very good company. I know many drivers and dispatchers over there. They do work hard to get their drivers home. I was sorry to hear about Dave's passing. I didn't know him, but everyone who did says that he was a great guy. I'm glad that you found a good company that is a good fit for you.

KingOfHibernia How many of your loads are multi-stop like the one you just finished up with 6 stops. You sound like an LTL driver.

No, I would not classify us as a LTL company.
I would estimate that one of seven(1/7) loads are more than one stop. They would be 1) windows\doors 2) Mail 3) Paper.
Of course, none of them are "driver assist" and we receive $30.00 for each extra pickup and\or stop.
And, did I mention that we use "Practical Miles" and not HHG!!!

Take care and have a safe day!!!

REMEMBER: "At Bay and Bay we don't follow the standards,
    we set the standards"

I saw one of your trucks the other day in TX. Looks like they take pretty good care of equipment. Glad you are happy. Need a few hundred more companies like that.

The owner started out in the truck repair business before he bought Bay and Bay. They still operate that side of the business, called Anderson Diesel. I think that helps them understand the importance of keeping their equipment in good working order. I'm sure it helps keep costs down, too.
