    When you are running logs on computer or cell phone it is different than on an e-log.
    An e-log is hooked to the trucks ecm, so it knows anytime the truck is moving, and logs you on driving at those times.

    For the computer logs, most people carry a small printer in the truck so they can print the logs on demand, and some do so at the end of the day. Keep the past 7 days in print. Then toss at the end of the days you need.
    Up to you, but most DOT want a paper print out from computer generated logs. This is the only way they are legal. Since unlike an actual e-log. The computer logs can be fudged.

    thanks chrome. i didn't pack my printer this past week. but i'm defenitely packing it now. had problems in AZ. had the stuff emailed so my phone pulled it up. but printing it out woulda saved the hassle. specially since they don't want to give out fax numbers or be of any help what so ever.

    questions.

    this software is saying that after a 34. i've got my full 70 back. i won't have to worry about the 8 days rule? cuz i have 1/2 hour left. but i'll be past my 34 when i hit the road tomorrow.

    i'm guessing the unloading is supposed to be claimed on duty? i think before we were able to claim it off duty. i'll have to shorten my on duty times to get some hours back unless that 34 gives me back my full 70.

    i remember jj saying something about you can't stop your 11 unless your taking a 10?
    there's no more splitting time between on and off.

    and this one hour break. how does that work and is it mandatory. cuz i've just been driving straight through my hours. except for load and unloading which i've been claiming on duty.

    you have a 14 hr window to do your 11 hrs you can start and stop the 11 with in that 14. i claim all unloading and loading in the sleeper so it doesn't effect your 11 unless you go over 3hrs then it eats into the 11. i also never take the manditory 1 hr break. if im not mistaken the rule on that is after 6 or 7 hrs of continusally being on line 3 you have to do the 1 hr break but i don't think that it is law yet.

    i've got cop paranoya now. every time i see a cop now i'm hoping he doesn't pull me over and ask for my logs. and i'm at home.

    Just because their NOT out to get to get me, is not any reason NOT to be paranoid!!! Was trying to take a nap earlier today and kept dreaming I was late on a load..... and I'm on vacation!!!!!

    You always have to carry 8 days with you. Even if you took a 34 hour restart.

    Unload can go either way. Every company I have worked for want us to log 15 min for arrival. Then off duty or sleeper. Never had an issue with DOT doing it this way.
    When I was running flatbed I had to log more than that though. Since as a flat bedder the driver is responsible for securing and unsecureing the cargo. Also for tarping loads at times.
    So when I had to do these tasks I would log 30-45 min for load and unload time. 15 more if tarping.
    Again, never had an issue doing it this way. Though as a driver that is home weekends you can and will use up your full 70 in 5 days allot. So you do not have to watch it as tight.
    Just remember. From the time you start that clock. You have 14 hours to work.

    And you can drive 11 hours of that 14. Since you are running flatbeds on short haul you probably will not have the chance to drive 11 hours in a day. So I would not worry about that.
    As long as you do not work over 14 hours a day, you will not go over 70 in the 5 days you are working. Since 5 x 14= 70

    I hope that is not too much info. You will get use to it in a few weeks.

    Oh, I forgot one question.
    You cannot stop your 14 once it starts without taking an 8 or 10. Forget the 8 for now. It is rather advanced and easy to mess up.

    i've been using the 10. my 14 usually ends up around 8 or 9 on paper. not so in reality. specially with the learning curve i'm going through in securing the loads.

    my 5 days is more like 6 days. i'm home friday night but out on sunday.

    i MT'd in salt lake friday at 10. up to plymouth but couldn't get my load untill 5. parked the truck at 7. sometime today i'll take the 85 mile drive to the yard. and be on the road again. i've got 60 foot rebar delivering in vegas 7 a.m. monday.

    i'll probably camp out at loves tonight. hope i can find a portable swamp cooler to take with. spending the night in topock, az with no cooling sucked. all the trucks have 1000 watt inverters and a microwave. don't know if the microwave works. but the supplied fridge for some reason isn't working.

    some of the other trucks got spoiled. tv and dvd supplied.

    i've got the fueling part.

    and i'm off to the races. cept no one seems to be in a hurry to go anywhere out in the dessert.

    if you all see a orange 94 kenny t600 saying ccp. that be me. and i don't imagine there are a lot of orange tractors. LOL. don't be afraid to blow out some air. but don't expect an answer on the cb. i can receive but no transmit.
