Been there got rid of it. Adroids have as just as many apps if not more due to the apps being easier to create and pass inspection by the company. Apple won't let many go thought plus you can't do adobe because of the fight between apple and adobe over programing. I went to a Dell Streak and so far it's great. If you want a keyboard the Droid X is more for you.

Avoid the iPhone at all cost, you can't get insurance for them and you have to send it to apple if it breaks ( you pay postage, fix it fee, etc...) and it could take up to 6 weeks before you know whats wrong, let alone get it back.

No you don't have to send it back to Apple, and yes you can get insurance on it's it's called APPLE care. You just have to take your phone to an apple store though as they don't do any work on them at AT&T. I have had 2 iphones replaced at apple stores no questions asked.

the only advantage it see to iphone is more applications are available. but with droid surpassing apple and very close to surpassing blackberry. it won't be long now before it's the #1 selling platform. and hopefully the same kewl apps will come out.

if it's not in the marketplace. it's not available. that's the only way to download and install anything. i don't think there is another way possible. but i could be wrong. i've tried a couple of weblinks on my phone but they both opened up marketplace for downloading.

youi can try google on the phone to see if anything comes up that you might be able to install.

EDIT:: there are some articles on the net. dated in july. that say it's in the works but no release date. nothing saying that anything is available other then iphone.

the book is pretty basic. i never read mine.

the phone is like a pc. it has it's own operating system. it's up to the owner to figure out all the goodies. a lot of what i know is from reading the forums. and book marking the sights. there's so much to learn.

i'll do a lot more with my phone though then you'll probably ever do though. i've never kept the stock software on any of my smartphones. there are people out there that hack the software to make the phones do more then what the carriers want. so i'll wipe my phone out. and load up what i want. without all the carrier crap i never use.

the best advice i can give is to google whatever forums are out there for your phone. people have questions and people have answers. and they will provide you with information of what your phone can and can't do. you'll learn more about your phone then any instruction book can provide. and most of the stuff won't even be familiar to verizon themselves. if you have any problems with your phone. the forums will more then likely be more help then verizon will ever be.

youi'll have plenty of material to read when your out on the road. so don't worry about packing any books on this next trip. :biggrin_25525:

one thing youi'll defenitly want to learn is rooting your phone. you may want to run an application on your phone that requires root. such as a wireless wifi program, if your phone has a wifi module.

forgot the most important thing to say. in case you don't have one already.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE A GMAIL ACCOUNT SETUP. some of your phone won't function without a gmail account. the marketplace that is used to install any applications you want. WON'T ACTIVATE ITSELF WITHOUT A GMAIL ACCOUNT SETUP ON THE PHONE.

so that's the first thing you do. gmail.com and set up an account. then program it into your phone gmail system.

that's gmail, and not the regular email. 2 seperate email clients.

Wife saw on the web, Verizion has a major announcement on Jan 11.
And on a related note, apple employees are not allowed to take off work the first week of Feb......

Guess what, here comes the I-phone for verizion.

there's been rumors and speculation. nobody claiming any truth yet.

and i think it's supposed to be 4g. BUT, don't expect it untill june. that's there annual release of new phones.

i wouldn't own one of them. i won't have anything to do with ANY carrier, or manufacturer that tells me what i can and can't do with my phone.

this is america, and i beleive in freedom. right down to my cell phone.

EDIT:: just saw that the rumor mill was published in the WSJ. and that they have an excellent track record in all rumoros apple. the picture says 3g though. there's also rumors about the ipad also landing in verizon.
