sweet express...grand rapids, mi

Only thing I've read is from here. It's owned by 2 brothers and it's a very small company. Plus I live only a few miles from them and don't see that many trucks on the road.

 

The company has 140 to 150 trucks. Starting pay for a newbie (never drove) can be 32 cents, and those who have decent experience can get up to 36. Anything above 36 is considered lucky.

They get you home every time you ask without any questions asked. You tell them how many miles you would like to drive weekly and they will see if they can provide. The boss is very good man and will help you in any situation, personal or company level. You just have to take care of the equipment and you'll do fine.

They just bought a new warehouse that can take up to 700 trucks and will have their own repair shop running.

The equipment is probably 80% 2005 and up, the rest is junk Freightliners. But complain enough and you'll get something better.

 

Really, a warehouse that can take 700 trucks around Grand Rapids, would like to know where that is?

When I was looking for a company fresh out of CDL school, they weren't currently hiring students. Glad to know they seem to be holding their own.

Every once in awhile I see them in the midwest and southeast.

I do, however, see them around MI everywhere and around Chicago when I'm there.

 

Thinking of going with them.Seem to have better luck with the smaller companys.Talked with Edin today seems like a good guy.I've been doing local in the Boston area for the past five years.Want to get back on the road.

 

Dont be a fool and go and work for sweet express. They are not ever willing to talk about raises their trucks are crap. they are always breaking down. They will charge you for everything and anything that they can find wrong with a trailer or truck and getting your pay and having it correct is wishful thinking. this is one of the worst companies ever. I would not go work for them. No one ever stays with them long a few months and that is it. Oh and as far as taking time off anytime you need is bull! I only stayed with them 8 months and it was 8 months of hell.

 

I've been with the company for 6 years and i couldn't ask for better. They are very understanding people and they will do anythin to keep their drivers happy. As long as you are loyal to them they will treat you great. They will give you home time as much as requested and best of all you can advance. The owner is a great guy and he will help you personally or on the business side. It is true they did buy over 27 acres that is in grand rapids around the kentwood area. Ccmindyc I have never heard of them charging anyone for something that they were not responsible for. And as far as raises go you get what you deserve. I'm sure you can can explain us how they are you have a year of experience and you drove for them for 8 months. And people do stay there obviously I have been there for years on.

 

sweet express in hiring in my area. anyone know are they pretty decent company . decent benefits keep you running , maintain there equipment make good money every week . I have been driving 10 years and i have worked for some seriously really bad companies that we all know dont care about there drivers and dont want to make that mistake again . do they do oversized ? any info be great good or bad thanks in advanced
