    Well my Titans looked good last w/end, but then again we only played the Raiders. This week will be a good test....we play the Steelers, minus Big Ben but they still have a tough defense. As far as the panthers go...I think the wife is in for a long disappointing sixteen weeks.

    Well I had a pretty uneventful week. I left out Early Sunday morning to pick up a trailer at Arvin Merritor in Forest City, NC going up to Union City, IN for a 0500 appt. the following morning. I kicked that off first thing Monday morning and was told to dhead over to the yard in Fort Recovery, OH. I picked up a preloaded trlr. off of the yard with two stops. My first stop was just 50 miles from the yard and the load finished up down in Atlanta the following morning. I was then given a load assignment that loaded over in Rome, GA. that was going up to Mass.. It took five hours to get into a door and get loaded, but after two hours I was on the clock at $12.50 an hour for detention. After getting loaded I was told to just bring the load to the SC yard and drop it.
    When I made it to the yard, the Southern region dispatcher asked if I could help him out the following day doing local work, because he had one guy on vacation and another guy out sick. I told him I would wouldn't mine helping him out, so he said to just be back at the yard at 0800 the following morning. I was able to spend Tuesday and Wednesday night at the house, which is always nice. Local work basically consists of picking a preloaded trlr. off the yard with anywhere from 3 to 5 stops on it. After making the LTL deliveries you make pick ups locally and bring those back to the terminal. Your paid mileage and stop pay, so on that day I made right at $100 dollars in stop pay plus the mileage which was 250 miles for the day. I came back in Thursday morning worked locally for about three hours and then picked up a load off of the yard going up to Bucyrus, OH. This is a dedicated customer for us, so I dropped and hooked at the plant in Ohio Friday morning coming right back to the plant in SC.
    On the way back down to SC I stopped in Jonesville NC to get a bite to eat, before I went in I did a quick walk around a and checked my tires. One tire felt low. so I pulled out my gauge and checked the pressure, the tire was showing only 60 psi. Upon further inspection I saw there was a nail in the tire. I added a some air and it seemed to be holding the air, but since I was dropping this trailer at a customer, I couldn't in my right mind drop this trailer at the customer and leave the tire for another driver to deal with next week. I believe the "Golden rule " applies here and I know it is a major pet peeve of mine when I go to pick up a trailer at a customer or even a terminal that has been dropped, and some inconsiderate driver didn't take the time to a simple post trip on the trailer and decides to leave it for the next guy to deal with. So yes it was a Friday evening and yes I wanted to get home, but I stopped at tire shop and had a patch put on the tire. It was something that if I would have blown off, would have bugged me all #### w/end. So I finally got home about 1130 and have enjoyed a great day with the wife at a charity event her at a local watering hole benefiting cerbal palsy. They had some great bands playing and we participated in a poker run this morning.
    I will leave early in the a.m. with a load that's sitting on the yard here in SC heading up to CT. for a 1000 delivery Monday morning. I hope everyone has a safe and productive week.

    I use to talk to Cheeseman drivers all the time at the Kraft in Avon OH.
    They ran some dedicated out of there hauling lunchables.
    I would bring frozen Capri sun up from Granite city that they used to keep them cold for transport.
    That way they could use dry vans for delivery.

    Sounds like a good gig you have going at Cheeseman's. I followed your posts when you were with Keen and found them interesting. It's nice to be able to spend some quality time at home and still be able to hit the road.
    Just from reading your few posts here, running on E-Log shouldn't be a problem. Seems like they give you plenty of time to get to where you're going and running dedicated helps a lot too.
    Keep us posted on your endeavors and I hope this one works out for you.

    So far so good,but I always consider the first 90 days as the "honeymoon" faze. I have enjoted getting to spend part of the week end at home, even if its just long enough for a 34 hr. restart. As far as E-logs go I guess I have a wait and see attitude. Like I stated in a earlier post I think its the way the industry is headed.
    Redskin fan huh? I think Snyder finally got smart and decided to hire some real football people to run the team. Now if only Jerry Jones could get that idea in his head, but he is too much of an ego maniac.

    I run Flatbed and if we go e-log, we are screwed. No way we can make money running the required hours under the DOT rules. If we can get in and out of a shipper, great but that's never going to happen. We usually sit for an hour or more just waiting on a dispatch then another 1-3 hours dead heading to the shipper, then you sit at the shipper for another hour or so before they even load you and if you have to tarp a load, add another hour. By the time you're ready to roll, you've got anywhere from 6-8 hours to drive 600 plus miles to make delivery the next morning.
    I'm sure it's the same story with other segments of the trucking industry. If they go e-log, I can see our pay being cut by 1/3 and the only way to make that up is by raising rates significantly, which I don't see happening.
    Sorry to hear you're a dallASS cowBOY fan, lol, 0-2 isn't fun. Believe me, we've been there.

    It will be real interesting to see just how these companies deal with electronic logging tracked in real time with GPS. These low rates will not be able to continue...

    Well I just got home after being out over the weekend, I volunteered to stay out over the weekend because im taking the next 3.5 days off to marry off my oldest daughter. We are heading to Va. Beach in the morning for the wedding.

    I have been busy since last posting, and was even able to squeak out a decent week, even though it will be a short week. I can honestly say that with my first month in the books here at Cheeseman I have enjoyed the company thus far. They keep me rolling and seem to have more then enough freight. I have done mostly LTL with a few truckloads thrown in for good measure. Over the last month I have had some equipment issues as far as things needing to be repaired on the truck, but they have fixed everything I have written up and even found and repaired things that weren't on my list. I have had to use the roadside breakdown service twice when I blew coolant hose on two separate occasions, and I was pleased with the whole process and waited an average of three hours before I was up and rolling again. They have prostars and Macks, and with me being the FNG I was assigned a Mack, but to be honest its a nice riding truck and for being 5 years old it still pulls nice and is in good shape. They would have normally traded there Macks in already, but they put off an upgrade to see what the economy is going to do, and they are waiting to see how the new 2011 trucks perform.

    Just a heads up for any of you running I 80 across Pa. you might want to stay away from the T/A in Bloomsburg, Pa. we have had two trucks stolen from there in the last two months. The most recent this week....the trailer was recovered in Elizabeth, NJ empty. I hope everyone has a safe and productive week.

    Well if these Lawmakers in DC get there way in three years all trucks will have EOBRS. Two Senators just proposed a new bill that will mandate them on all trucks. I will say it again, like it or not they are coming, it is only a matter of time. They just installed the new system in my truck this week, but it won't go live until the end of October. One thing that the new system does have is a truck GPS system which is active, and I have enjoyed using that over the last few days.

    How dare you insult me by saying im a Dallas fan, I may have grown up in Texas but I despise the Cowboys and the Steelers. I grew up an Oilers fan and when they moved to Tennessee I followed them and I love my Titans.
