Well I had a good time taking the long weekend down in Va. Beach. My daughters wedding went off without a hitch. I got home Sunday night, and went down to the yard Monday morning to find out what they had in store for me. I ended up picking up a load going North of Boston for an antyime delivery, about the time I crossed into Md. on I 81 dispatch called and asked in I could meet another driver in Mifflinville Pa. and switch loads with him. His load had a stop on Akron and finished up here at the yard in Ft. Recovery, Ohio as fast as I could get it here after my ten hour break. I would rather be headed to Ohio instead of Boston, so I agreed to do the swap, and now here I sit here at the "fort" getting my break in. Dispatch has me on a load with three deliveries here in Ohio in the morning, and then picking up a load in Bucyrus, Oh. going back down to Duncan SC.
I will finish the weekly update this weekend when I get home. I hope everyone has a safe and productive week.

So far so good. Since my last post I picked up a trailer of the yard here in Ft. Recovery with two stops in Akron, after I got the stops off I had three pick ups and brought those back to the yard. I picked up another pre-loaded trailer off of the yard going to Bennington Vt. as quick as I could get it there. I made it to Lodi, Ohio and shut down for the night, I got up bright and early the next morning and hoped to get to Vt. aroung 1600. I had no issues and got empty in Vt., and was given a load that loaded in Syracuse NY first thing this morning. I was there at 0800 this morning and was literally loaded and had my paerwork in ten minutes. If only it could work like that at the rest of the shippers and recievers. The load was going to Indiana, but dispatch just had it me drop here at the yard in Ohio, and they have me picking up a load here after my break is over heading to our yard in SC.
It will be a great week, mileage wise when I get down South tomorrow. I should be home by 1600 tomorrow, so I will be able to be home Sunday and watch my Titans play the much hated Cowboys at my favorite local sports bar.

Well I made it home today around 1700. The wife had homemade chili and a cold beer waiting for me when I walked in the door. I finished the week with 3538 miles for the week, by far my best week since I have been here. It will be interesting when we start "e" logs if I can even get close to those numbers. One of the nice things about doing the LTL here is that we rarely ever have to deal with delivery appointments. Most of the stops are one or two skids at each stop, and you back in to a door, kick those pieces off and then its off to the next stop. Most of the truckload deliveries I have run across are drop and hook or quick live unloads.

Well I went in Monday morning and picked up a load off of the yard going to Bucyrus, Ohio. I dropped up there Monday night, and picked up a preloaded trailer coming right back down to Duncan, South Carolina. Each turn is 576 miles one way so not a bad way to start the week. I got back to the yard in SC at a pretty reasonable time Tuesday, but since its an hour and fifteen minute drive to the house, and my pickup has a V8 and sucks gas like its going out of style, I just stayed at the yard. Freight Wednesday morning was looking pretty slow, and there were about 6 drivers hanging around the drivers room telling lies, and doing what drivers do best (complain). David from dispatch came in and offered a load going to Windsor Ct. to a couple of drivers, they both turned it down because one hated running "up there", and the other driver didn't think he would get back for the weekend. So then he asked me if I wanted the load, without hesitation I said yes. I'm sorry folks im here to make money, I will go where they send me, and besides that with the dhead miles it was a 974 mile run with a drop and hook on the other end. I will never understand how drivers can complain about not getting any miles, but then refuse loads and expect to have the whole weekend off. If I get home Saturday afternoon or evening that's fine with me. Remember im used to being out four or five weeks at a time.
So I gladly took the load and was dropping the trailer Thursday afternoon in Ct., dispatch asked me to go over to our yard in East Windsor Ct. and pick up a dropped trailer that had a 0700 appt. in Pembroke NH the next morning. The way I look at something like this is that I have the hours to do it, so why not make some extra money instead of sitting around waiting until the next morning. I was empty in NH at 0900 and made three pick ups in NH and Mass. and was told to take that back over to the terminal in Ct.. Now here is the thing about our terminal in Ct., it is basically just a cross dock facility with about 8 doors, and the driver has to unload and load the freight. To me its no big deal, I worked in a warehouse years ago, and have no issues with operating a forklift. I pulled the stops off that I made earlier in the day off my trailer, and reloaded a trailer with freight on the dock going down to our terminal in SC. It took about an hour and a half because I helped another driver load his trailer, who wasn't comfortable driving a forklift. They compensate you for the time you spend on the dock. They use the honor system and just ask that you send in a macro with the hours worked when done.
After loading I wanted to at least make it over to Scranton Pa. before I shut down for the night. I stopped about 20 miles way from Scranton in Sterling Pa., and got up Saturday morning and headed South. I pulled into the Duncan, SC yard about 1730 yesterday, and I had another productive week. I finished the week with 3318 miles plus about $150.00 in dock and stop pay. Dispatch told me to give them a call Monday morning around 10 a.m. to see what they had for me for next week.
I hope everyone has a safe and productive week.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

I spent an extra day at the house this weekend, so I didn't leave the house until Tuesday. I picked up a load going North of Boston, I dropped that up there late Wed. night. I made three pickups in Mass. at $25 a pick up and carried that over to our yard in East Windsor Ct.. I dropped that, grabbed an empty and went over off I395 in Ct. and reloaded a load of rolled paper going just North of Buffallo NY for the next afternoon. I kicked that off with out any issues, and reloaded just down the road from there coming back to our yard in Ohio.
Since I left the house late this week, I volunteered to stay out and work the Weekend. So I am currently sitting at our terminal here in Ohio while the finish putting together a load out of here with a stop in Springfield Mo., Dallas, Tx., and finish up in Houston. One thing I have found so far is that if you want to stay out and work the weekend they usually have the freight.
I hope everyone has a safe and productive week. GO TITANS!!
