I actually am just wanting information on this company.....I am hired by them and am wondering if someone can tell me a halfway decent thing about them so I know attending orientation isn't the biggest mistake I make....

btw they are based out of waterloo, Ia

    Thanks Bumpy and Rookie....

I did see that "bad trucking report" and wonder if it can be as bad as that suggests....it probably is :biggrin_2556:

Those safety numbers do seem bad :biggrin_25513:

I cant believe they are still in business with the thousands of dollars in fines they had to pay the DOT from audits!!:biggrin_2555:

I live in Waterloo and I have seen their trucks around here. I applied there back a few months ago, and did not hear back from them. Not sure if they are regional, but I think they are , otherwise I would not have applied to them.

They have been around here for quite some time. I am not sure why their stats are not so good. They have quite a few units, and they seem to grown in size over the years.

How did you get hooked up with them?
    How long is their orientation?
Where do you stay during orientation?

I worked for them for 3 weeks 2300 miles was the most i got and talking with other drivers thay said thay were luckey to get 1800 miles and thay wont pay for scaling loads out unless it over 43000 lb gps tracking matching it to the logs so by the book 100%..detition pay whats that..6hrs in a dock hmm.plus if you quit or get fired within 90days thay want you to pay back bus ticket hotel drug screen and physical about $300 dollars for wasting your time. dispatch is nice group of people but that dont pay the bills\

I filled out an application on a Hiring Truck Drivers site and was called by many companies....Gray was one of them that called....they checked out my DAC and I was offered employment within about 60 minutes of being called.....my DAC is not great so I was happy to get the offer....I have been postponing my return to OTR until after xmas so I do not have much info on the other questions.....i know they planned on picking me up at the bus station and I would arrive on sunday and monday would just be a drug test and nothing else but hanging out at motel....

when i do return in late december early january i plan on using gray as a backup plan.......if orientation does not work out at USXpress or Sharkey transport I will go with Gray (USxpress brings alot of people to orientation and sends them home)

maybe its because I came from Werner but all those things you mentioned don't seem that bad - lol....I would have loved to average 1800.. the only thing you mentioned that worries me is you only worked for them for 3 weeks? Is that because you needed more miles? I also don't like that pay em back 90 days policy, that is garbage!

yes i need more than 2000 a week at 34 cpm thats a gross 680 hell i made more than that in 1991,if i dont get 2500 in a week im having a bad week, you can match tolls and fuel recepts and still log 3000+ in a week leaving on sunday and getting in on friday just need the runs to do it with

    iaretea222 Thanks this.

:biggrin_25512: Gray Sucks, pick another #### bag company. There trucks are like ####. NO direct deposit or payroll card. You have to mail them your trip sheets with you own stamps and envelopes. Paid by paper check only. They lied about pay.

Today I was told by Darrin Gray, that I was not good enough to work for them. To many jobs he said. Please look at my concerns about this company on Rip Off Report.com. By the way, I have a perfect driving record.
