| Off to Training this Weekend. Hi guys. Im off to training this weekend, but it will be in Texas though. Im glad to see others choosing SNI along with me. While my CDL class were picking up our licenses last week, there were a couple of "kings of the road" standing outside the DMV who had good things to say about WERNER, and COVANENT, but all they could say about SNI was that they sucked. I Stoped paying what little attention I had been paying immidiatly. Im glad to be going to work for them. I dont expect greatness to come in my first year, but at least wanted to find a company that I felt I could trust and wouldnt skrew me over just because im new. BTW, 90 backing. Did you mean parallel parking, like blind side and sight side. Or ally docking?? None of them are really that bad. They kicked me at first, but once you get all the steps together, there not that bad. HOORAY, were off to drive a punkin!!!! |

| sni does pull doubles. they are part of the chrysler and general motors accounts. they are almost always pulled with daycab trucks, and in md and pa you will see them everywhere. they usaually travel at night delivering to dealerships before they open. those drivers are home every night and have set dedicated runs. |

| if you go to sni you will have to sign a contract. the only wat out of it is to go to an outside school first, them sign with sni. did they tell you it was an 18 month contract? i graduated from sni school 2 1/2 years ago, it was only a 1yr contract then. i would check into that before you go. it was also only $3500 when i went and it was 3 weeks long. it has been shortened to 14 days, but check the cost as well and verify the total amount. outside school cost me over $6000 6 years ago. sni school is still probably cheaper than most outside schools, so keep that in mind as well. It all boils down to your intentions, 1yr isnt that long in the trucking industry. without at least 1 yr experience, most good companies wont even look at your application. 1yr with schneider will actually put you ahead of most other applicants with the same experience. I know this from personal experience. i was hired by a company that requires two years experience, after just 1 yr with sni, i was hired by that company. My friend wasnt, he also had 1 yr but with another company. I was told i was only hired without the required experince because i drove for schneider, their training program is well known and recognized throughout the industry. after it didnt work out i went back to sni for another yr, and right now i can pick up the phone and call any any company out there and get a job. i left sni only because i was one of those who didnt make any money there. they have improved dramatically even in the 4 months since i left. my suggestion is to ask yourself what you hope to gain from sni. are you looking for training, experience or a career. let that decide what you will do . if you just want trained, go somewhere else. if you want the experience, go to sni. if you want a career, see how it goes after the 1st year. it didnt work for me, but many of my close friends have very good careers at sni. and as every says, they are making leaps and bounds to improve. they boosted pay right after i left. and hometime is slowly getting better. talk to people, think about what you want. decide from there. |

| I've heard good and bad about Schneider...but more good compared to many other companies out there. They seem to be one of the better ones to work for. As far as pay...what does your contract say? I got mine emailed to me telling me my pay and all that. Im salaried so I get paid weekly. I don't know what the issue is with them not letting you park it up there in Canadia. Might help to ask if there are a good number of trucks up there. Might be an issue with you bringing a loaded truck or something across the border only to come back. On the upside...if you are OTR...you are out for a while so its 2 hours every couple of weeks and then 2 hours back to work until you come back to detroit 3-4 or however many weeks later. |

| I just recently talked to a couple of schineder drivers I found having coffee at a stop in R.I., They both said they take their units home, they both have driven for them for a couple of years, so maybe that will change for you, as for them telling You to run illigal, i have a hard time phathoming that, schineder is too big and has way too much spotlight on them, no maybe there are some rouge dispatchers who run their own show but I don't think the higher ups would condone such action, I think if You hunker down, let Your self settle in, (which will take some time remember) You will do just fine, remember this is a job, You have a boss, and need to follow directions, if someone asks You to do something illigal my next call would be to their resolutions dept, before wheel one moved. Take Your time to get the job at hand done without error, work hard(sometimes it hurts) and You will do well at that company, whine, complain, and threatn, and it will be a long contract for You,... After time You will find a groove, and I promise there will be alot of times You are so content and happy, You will be convinced there is nothing better. Now get to work and strive to be the best.. | I have heard a lot of good stuff about Schneider as well. My driving instructor at the school I went to worked for Schneider for 9 years and he said he never had any problems except for one. One problem in 9 years isn't bad. Up here in Canada it's a little bit different for us drivers from what I was explained. I am not looking forward to having to deal with lumpers and all that B/S because I am Canadian when I take a load to the US I either have to do a drop and hook or back into a dock and have somebody else unload me. From my understanding I am not allowed to unload my own trailer in the US because I do not live in that country and it violates some trade agreement between the US and Canada. I have no idea what to expect. I believe or pay for training is also different up here. I too am on salary during training. The first week off training we get $390 then $325 a week for every week after that until we get our own truck and switch over to Mileage Pay. Now as for the contract I believe this also has do with being up here in Canada is I didn't have to sign a contract with them. I can leave after 3 months if I want (which I won't because I am with them to gain experience because I am a new driver). On a plus side I haven't heard anything negative about Schneider until I started reading posts on this wall so maybe that is an indication that maybe they aren't so bad afterall. I guess I will just have to find out for myself what it's all about. One thing I read that was posted on this website was the lumpers situation. Giving them a ComCheck to pay them and then that ComCheck is deducted from your pay until you get reimbursed 3 weeks later. That really worries. I was told by the recruiter that 90% of their frieght is No-Touch freight? Can anybody shed some light on this? As well I am curious too because I was also told that 75% of their loads are drop and hook. I have been hearing that recruiters will tell you anything and its not always true. |

| Not sure of the total pay of a guy I met through his parents They claim he is able to up 20 grand a year in the bank I don't think he has his own place, so this probably means nothing, except he is good at saving money. My brother makes less than 40 gross as a solo
