| Home Time I hope this helps,... no matter what company you work for, home time is never definite. Every company tries to do their best, but it is very difficult in this profession. One thing to look for is Yard Dogs. Yard Jockeys. They drive only on the companies yard, and it is wonderful experience on backing. You will be able to set your own hours. I know that WalMart, and Coca Cola is always looking, depending on the area you are in. I am glad to hear that the experiences that you all have had had been great. I know most of the instructors at Carlisle, and most of them are wonderful people. Being out on the road months at a time, I don't get into Carlisle that often, and I find myself missing them at times. Schneider is actually a wonderful company because they are striving to focus on not just the loads, but what will make drivers satisfied. There is alot here that is being offered for what you are looking for, and more to come. Enjoy and be safe everyone. Have fun and enjoy life! CJ |

| I have a telephone interview with Schneider Tuesday. If everything goes OK, I get to start training Saturday in Charlotte, NC. |

| after reading various posts here on hometime, and wating for loads with delays, ie flat tires etc. Here's my deal, I'm coming from 20yrs seniority (so I had first choice of schedules and vacation, and made 40k) at ATA Airlines. L1011's and DC10's broke, sometimes for day's. Then there were the CREEPING delays. we could be SCHEDULED, that's the key word. for 18hrs duty, 12hrs flying. if unforseen things happend, in odd places, say Diego Garcia (in the middle of the Indian Ocean) too bad, so sad. Other times the company would offer to send all the pax to a hotel and give us 8hrs rest, but then we'd have "gethomeitis" and just go for it. I love to drive, have towed an Airstream since I was 16, now tow a 35ft widebody Airstream with a GMC CrewCab Longbed, on my days off for fun. So, I'm thinking, I have trailer towing knowledge, am used to being out for 12-14 days w/ 12days in a row off. I realize this is not quite like trucking, but just found a company that has three man teams, 14 days out 10 days off. that suits my needs. I'd really like 14/14 part time. any suggestions? Seeing I've always dealt with mechanical and weather delays anyway, I'm thinking I'm suited for the industry? Any recomondations on compays? In other words, weekends mean nothing to me, large blocks of time of do. Thanks! ps. and I've been told my backing up skills are pretty good! think I'd be a good fit in trucking? Dan |

| I got a phone call today and have a phone interview scheduled for tomorrow for Schneider Bulk Tanker division.......Anyone have any information regarding their tanker division??? Was not expecting that to be thrown at me, but having 5 years at a chemical company I guess I can say I wasn't surprised..Thanks... |

Also, keep in mind that with the tanker division...when freight is low or they can't find a tank load to get you out of an area, they might have you go pick up a van trailer instead. I know when I see a mid-roof Schneider truck that it is a tanker and about once a day or so I see one of them hauling a van trailer. Good way to keep you running.

| I've been with schneider for 9 months and i have always got off when i put in for it, i got to go home when my son gradurated from highschool and i got off when my son went in the navy and i will get off when he gradurates from bootcamp, they are pretty good about my time off, other than that i will get 5 days a month off. the only thing is they are not getting any new trucks in yet and they are having a lot of breakdowns so i think they will be getting new trucks in pretty soon because it is costing alot for repairs,motel and paying driver to set around till there truck are repaird . schneider is just getting to big they have over 15,000 drivers in the fleet now,hire 30 awk (your just a # here) for a big company thats to be expected |

How much per day do they pay their drivers for sitting around all day waiting? I don't think I have ever heard of that from a company as big as Schneider. Please let me know. Drive safe |

| The tanker division for Schneider is in high demand. A little bit more training but the rewards are pretty good. I will never drive any tanker due to the <slurge> (movement of liquids from side to side, front to back). Not my cup of tea. I team with a driver that was an instructor at Carlisle, he was a tanker driver for almost 8 years and has been with the company for over 12 years. He loved it, but doesn't want to go back to it. As for driving vs. flying:: All up to you. You still have the DOT regulations, 14 hr allowed on duty with only 11 hr drive time, after a 10 hr break..... Schneider will pay total for a hotel room, within limits. Don't expect a room at the Ritz, hee hee.... but they will pay during break downs. I, personally, have not had any problems with the trucks, trailers, yes, but not trucks, and I am in my 5th truck with Schneider. As long as you keep up the basic maintenance, and really doing a pre-trip before driving, you shouldn't have any problems, and/or you can catch a problem at an OC before you are out on the road.... That is one thing I love about Schneider they have OC's (terminals) all over the country... I have worked for other companies with only 1 terminal, and it is horrible. Good luck |
