I do not have my CDL yet but I will say this about them. I filled an application out on Friday. Sunday morning they called me back to go over the application and I now have an interview scheduled for Tuesday. Schneider seems to be a very professional company thus far and they certainly give the impression that they have their act together. I am very impressed thus far. I know my opinion accounts for squat now, but I feel I should share this because I know many companies are not this professiobnal with people filling out applications. Called on a Sunday no less, wit people there to answer my call! Impressive.

You call them liars, but you don't specify what they lied to you about. I know they are not perfect, but their reputation for being straight with people is pretty much across the board,

They're a good company. They're a bad company. They're a.... They're a good company. They're a bad company. They're a good company. They're a bad company...... Well, which is it? Although I myself have posted in the 'bad' section about a company I used to work for, I don't take a whole lot of stock in these two parts of the website. One poster will praise a company like Schneider in the 'good' section. Another will bash Schneider in the 'bad' section. Which is it? Who cares? I wouldn't use these sections as my sole determiner. In fact, what I read here would take a distant second when determining how "good" a company is. First and foremost, I'd rely on my "pre-orientation" strategy of looking in the help-wanted ads and doing a drive-by of that company's terminal(s). If a company passed my "help-wanted-ads" test, I'd do a "drive-by" and check out their terminals in person. Relying on one's eyes to tell him the truth means checking out a company's lot and taking website posts with a grain of salt. Sure, there are kernels of truth in every post, be it positive or negative, but a drive-by will tell you what you need to know about any company out there, assuming they don't advertise in the help-wanteds every day of the bloo-med world. A terminal lot full of empty, cleaned-out trucks, orientation classes that are standing-room only, and help-wanted ads posted all over newspapers, billboards, terminal walls, and slick magazines would tell me what I really need to know about anybody. Whether that company is in Crescent City, Cally, Denver, Colorado, or Boston, would make no difference. A drive-by will tell me if the company is REALLY good or is really an exploitation company trying to pass itself off as good.

My hubby worked for Schneider for 10 months. His STL was nasty and gave loads to favorites (he was on dedicated and OTR). Stl sucked on the qualcom so you had to call to be clear about messages. Truckers treated like outsiders. Just prior to making a year ( he went to their academy), he was fired. Now we owe 4000 dollars. Sure we signed a contract but who knew they could fire you because you wouldnt let them talk to you like you were trash. He drives for Werner now. FYI.Aint no trucking company as great as some make them sound. How much (or how less)are you willing to work for? how much crap can you take and how many DOT rules can you break without getting caught? All THey only give a damn about one thing: DELIVER THE LOAD. | Re: Schnieder's Training Their web site doesn't say so I'm asking ya'll. Anyone know if Schnieder allows its drivers to drive their rigs home on their few off days? Or are you expected to have to drive home even if you live hundreds of miles away? What is the rule of thumb for most of the carriers out there? Do any or all carriers let their drivers park at home or do they have to park at a terminal? The recruiter at The United States Truck Driving School that was pushing Swift in Denver, was telling me about having to leave my vehicle parked in their unsecure lot for weeks at a time. So I assume that they don't let their people drive their trucks home. Also, what is the rule of thumb for parking big trucks in residential areas? If the trailer is disconnected can one park in their driveway if they live in a city? |

Re: Schnieder's Training Here is the deal with Schneider, last time I was off. I delivered to Oveido FL, dropped my load, ran straight back home, took the trailer and everything. I live 2.5 hours from my normal pick up point in Laurinburg NC. But I also work in the specialized. You may drop trailer at a drop yard and bob tail home.
