Thanks for the response about Scheider. You are right. It comes down to personal preference as to what a person likes. I'm a Firefighter and some guys say it's the best job in the world it's okay but i don't feel the same. I did 4 years in the US Navy that was the greatest job to me. I always loved and wanted to be a Trucker for the independency and having the boss man down my neck. thanks for welcoming me to the forum.

I got a call from Schneider today. I'll be having a telephone interview with them on 10-08-2008. The longest journey begins with the first step.

Don't know if I would have enjoyed the fire service as a career, but as a hobby, I've had a blast over the last 20 years! hello from North Dade (GA) Fire Rescue. bruceb.

Basically you just call in, wait for the others to get in, and then the Schneider person will greet you and give you all the info you guys need to know right off the bat. Then you ask questions if you have any.

Uh...or not. Unless they have drastically changed their Modus Operandi.

This is a regular interview, just via the phone. The recruiter you have been talking to via the phone will most likely be the same one doing the interview...they will ask you various basic questions...nothing to be worried about. Then they will transfer you over to the medical department where they will as you some medical related questions. After that, they set you up for an appt with a local drug testing place to take a pee test (and I think blood too); as well as another appt to get a DOT medical card. From there, they transfer you back to the recruiter who I think will finish it out and if I remember correctly will actually offer you a 'tentative' position. Tentative is the wrong word...but basically they will hire you, based upon you finishing their schooling, final tests, CDL exam...etc.

If everything goes well, you might want to ask to speak to the DBL on the account / board you will be working for...any ideas what that might be? They might be able to answer your questions much better than the recruiter. DON'T take what the recruiter says as Gospel....I dunno why, but their info is never correct. The actual real info my DBL had was true to the letter compared to what the recruiter had.

lol no thats ok...it sounded to me like you were talking about something else. I like the conference calls they have with the drivers...just personally wish they had them more often. Im the kind of guy that likes to know whats going on with the company. Drives me nuts when the audio and video news segments on Crossroads aren't updated for months at a time. argh.

All seemed to go well. I have to be in Green Bay on 11-07-2008. Classes start on 11-08-2008. I took a later date because I found out that I have to get qualified for HazMat. Need time to study. I got a email from someone that works for Racine County and they were told that Schneider will have a recruiter in Racine on 10-14-08. And that there are 25 open jobs at Schneider. Yep, I'm nervous, I never thought I'd feel this way at 59 years old.
