    B. Adding to the number of trucks operating in the fleet.
Out of our 14 people through orientation last week, only one got a brand new truck, without an APU. APUs are on back order because the motors come from Japan and production there is way behind because of the tsunami. I got a Cascadia with only 36k on it, though, and another friend got one with 32k. So they are not new, but just broken in! Also, Sazook, a lot of the new trucks on that back lot are waiting for the drivers who ordered them to get through the terminal.

Feels good to finally be back on the road with Prime! Picked up in Russellville, AR and headed for Lewiston, ME.

I maybe mistaken, but I believe one can only order a truck after they complete a lease. That thought ought to make the Prime haters crazy.

That is in fact the case, U2. The trucks there on the lot were waiting for the drivers who had ordered them (at the completion of a lease) to get into the terminal to pick them up. As I recall, one can order a truck for a new lease about 3 months before completing a 3 or 4 year lease with Prime. There ARE new trucks available to lease, just not specially ordered for new drivers.

Is it standard for Prime to equip their trucks with an APU?
Do both company and l/o's get APU's?
Are the APU's TK tri-pacs by chance?

36K...sweet, hopefully that should be just about enough to evict any Gremlins that left the factory in the truck!! )

Prime trucks generally have APUs - mostly TriPacs. However, the new ones lately do NOT have APUs yet because of production problems in Japan.

Which would fall under replacing a truck that is leaving the fleet. Either they take the old lease truck and take it out of the fleet, or they convert it to a company truck, and take an older company truck out of the fleet.

Yes it would... now I get what you were saying. Sorry. Was not intending to argue at all.

I don't know about Pittston, but at Springfield the road test is in a simulator (for experienced drivers anyway), and that is not as easy as it sounds. I would not say the orientation and road test are harder so much as MORE thorough! It is not your usual "1 or 2 days (or hours!) then throw you in a truck" that so many companies do. You will have plenty of time to change your mind if you feel the high standards required at Prime are more than you are willing to handle. After all, you are going to be entrusted with MUCH better equipment than at most companies, with a reputation for quality and service that has been earned over the years. That is not a recruiting line. There is a reason I came back to Prime after years of working with other companies.
