Exxact Express also hauls a LOT for Publix. They are out of Lakeland, FL which is where Publix is based.

VvvHappen to just stumble across this site. Great site btw. I've been working for Publix for 18 yrs , been driving for 10 of those . For the past 3 I've been a driver trainer. We have a 6 week program for our trainees . Yes our drivers come from within. We've added 25 drivers over the 4 months .its been great to take a gear grinding trainee and mold them into a professional courteous Publix driver .yes it may take a few yrs to get a driving position , but the end result is all worth it. The guys and women were training this week have just barley 5 yrs in the company. When I started with them it was taking 20 yrs to become a driver , but over the urs of expanding we've grown from 420 stores to over 1000. And we're adding a new warehouse in Orlando in 2014 . Even in this economy we continue to grow. To the fuelguy: there's plenty of positions that pay 13-18 per hr. even our sanatation crew make 13 a hr. Mot bad for picking up trash.we have selectors making 30 a hr. ya it's hard work but your paid for production.

Sorry to bump such an old post but I just wanted to say that Publix is still growing... they're opening up a warehouse in McCalla, Alabama early next year, and they're supposed to be building one in Virginia very soon. I just got hired on as a fuel island attendant, my job description includes just washing windshields and fueling trucks. I am one of the few lucky ones who came on from the street and came on with only a CDL permit. As previously stated I will be trained by a Publix driver and after I get my CDL, I have 90 days to get my tanker and hazmat endorsements as it is a requirement for my position. But currently from what I've been hearing the waiting list to be an actual driver for Publix out of the Atlanta distribution center is 3-5 years.

Never heard of them or seen any of their trucks. They must not come out to California very much.

Headquartered in Lakeland. My home town. Many of my school mates went straight from high school to work at Publix via family working there. Some of those class mates are retired with millions of dollars in the bank. Stocks were part of the package back in the day.

Sounds like a long, drawn out, miserable, game playing, pain in the ### process to go through.
Couldn't pay me enough to put up with their practices.

I have friends that live in Lakeland and most of their neighbors work for Publix and they live in very nice homes. It would be interesting to know what their driver turnover rate is!

They are hiring for that fuel attendant position a lot. I don't remember the number but it was ok pay to start. I see them training new drivers all the time so either they can't keep help or it's not that good of a place. I don't know what they start drivers at. I thought about trying to get on but I also decided that it was to much trouble.
