I've been working for Buchanan for about 5 months now. They are actively hiring experienced drivers and O/O's.

The things that are great about Buchanan is they really do treat the drivers with a lot of respect. As a person and not a number. Also, the planners and dispatchers do a great job of keeping me moving and I usually am planned out a load or two in advance. Sometimes a whole week. They've mostly had me hauling medium length hauls around the midwest. 300-500 miles. So I usually do a pickup and delivery every day. I am home every weekend and sometimes a night or two during the week.

We get paid on a percentage, and some loads do pay better than others. It seems to even out in the end. They tell me that down the road I will have more options to do long hauls or oversized loads and things that pay even better.

I'm driving a 2005 Freightliner Columbia with 650,000 miles. Some of the trailers are older as well, not a lot of bright, shiny new equipment. But they do take really great care of the equipment. Everything is completely inspected every three months and if anything needs fixing you just have to call the shop and they WILL take care of it either at their shop or have you go to TA shop or something.

I would also note that I've been pretty impressed with the office staff and management team at Buchanan when I have been there. Everyone is friendly, hard-working, and they are really smart and knowledgeable. If anyone has questions, I can try to answer or if I don't know I'll find out for you. Or feel free to contact them through the website.

One other thing I forgot to mention is company drivers do use electronic logs and qualcomm. :smt102:smt102 I haven't decided if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet. I've had kind of a love/hate relationship with the E-log's, but I thought it would be something of interest to someone thinking about coming to work with us.

yep, both still there. Joe Wheeler is my manager so I don't know Jeff and Nick very well. Jeff seems friendly, talked to him a couple times.

give them a call Rocky64. Like I said, they got me hauling back and forth midwest stuff because I don't have much experience and I like that stuff but if you want to do heavy haul they can likely set you up. Buchanan has a pretty good hold on the heavy haul market.

I sure wish I would have seen this a few days ago ... my hubby is going to work for them starting Monday :) He was supposed to catch a bus out there today, but because of Greyhounds poor planning - the bus was full and he is heading out tomorrow. I am really hoping they are as good as they say they are on the website; they seem almost too good to be true from what the recruiter and website say. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I'll also have him ask about the referral thing .... I don't know if it will work, but hey .... maybe :)

Ohhh ... and if you're OK with it, could you inbox me about average pay each week for drivers, if yall have ever talked about it? Then I can start prebudgeting and seeing what we might be working with lol
