Still can't figure out why folks sign on with a carrier and then ask questions AFTERWARD.

Going to Prime in Pittston myself next week. Don't know much about the lease deal though. Just the horror stories I read on this forum. There is a few success stories also. But most of the stories here on lease option are pretty bad.

This is for discussion of FAVORITE companies....shouldn't you be asking this type of question in the Ask an experienced trucker or New Drivers forums? just sayin. NOW to answer your question. PRIME leasees are actually leasing from a croo....err....company called Success Leasing, ran mostly by a snak errr....(#### my tourettes fingers!) gentleman named Fred Ege who is in Springfield, MO. GENERAL payments on a 2008 model truck, be it a Freightliner Cascadia or a Pete 387, standard with Onguard for Freightliner or VORAD for Petes smart cruise systems, Carrier or Tripac by Thermo-King APU unit (PRIME DOES NOT HAVE BAD EQUIPMENT) governed between 60-65 mph depending on how good/bad the driver in the truck previously was, will run you in the neighborhood of 800-1300 dollars WEEKLY. If you wish to PURCHASE the truck, AFTER you finish lease, the baloon payment will be somewhere upwards of $65,000.00, making PRIME's description of their program as Lease/Purchase a bit misleading. I am BUYING my 2012 International Pro-Star, complete with a 675 hp, duel 650 turbo MAXXFORCE motor, IDLE-SOLUTIONS apu which is all of 450 pounds batteries included, fitting snugly under my bunk, driver-side back massager, heated seats, chilled drink holders up front, 12 vent, 10 speaker audio system, 74" bunk, twin cabinet setup with wall-mounted tv bracket, custom overheads above the seats with duel deck cubby-holes with full front chrome package for approximately 152,000 dollars. My monthly payments are about 1800.00 dollars. At PRIME just LEASING a truck you most likely will NEVER own you will pay upwards of 3600.00 monthly making an average of $1.15 per mile on E-LOGS. .03 of that 1.15 goes into your maintenance and tire account. They will push sell the CPA services of Steve Perriman who will take HIS cut out of your money every week to balance your books fairly amateurishly at that. They will ask you to set up your OWN LLC with the sale pitch of "OWN YOUR OWN BUSINESS". What Don Lacey (Safety Director at PRIME who has 2 DUI/DWI infractions INVOLVING A SEMI TRUCK btw) is REALLY saying is "REMOVE ALL LIABILITY FROM US!". Furthermore, they will say "If leasing isn't for you...THAT'S OKAY! You can go to company side!" VERY few get to do this and it's after a LONG hard fight that they actually DO get to. NOW for a little bit of math based on guesstimates. Being on E-LOGS you will be averaging between 2300 and 3000 miles a week, when multiplied by 1.15 per mile ON AVERAGE (PRIME's guarentee per mile is .90 btw) translates to 3450.00 at MOST. Take away Federal taxes at 0.09 on the dollar 310.50 takes you down to 3340.00, let's say you average 1200.00 in fuel expenses, 2140.00, take out your truck payment of say 1140.00 after taxes and nickel and diming that Success Leasing has been so SUCCESSFUL at (get it?! HA! I SLAY ME!) 1000.00 dollars. NOW let's add in 3% brokerage fees you will be charged 970.00. NOW let's say you have your EGR valve go out 740.00 dollars, leaving you with a 260.00 paycheck...NOW let's pay our insur....OH CRAP! OUR INSURANCE COSTS 425.00!!!!!! ..2500 x 0.35 cents per mile you'll be making as a company driver with 3 years experience.... 875.00 gross with all non-negligent maintenance payed for by PRIME...and this is with OPTIMAL predictions on ESTIMATES.....any questions? Ask SEVERAL PRIME leasers (they are the ones with the big boy sleepers most commonly if they aren't a team or trainer). I saw some drivers go as deep as 9500.00 in the hole within MONTHS at PRIME and we are talking a few of them being VETERAN drivers...LOOK BEFORE YOU LEAP....It won't be the jump that gets you....it's that hard ### landing when you hit rock bottom that will. Don't believe me? Look up class act law suit Success Leasing/PRIME Inc. on google and see what you come up with.

NOW....as for MY side of things. with my 682 credit score, I skidaddled into Stoops' International lot in Indianapolis, IN and procurred my truck. I average about 2.09 cents per mile on a mediocre week. I average between 3000 and 3400 miles on paper logs. that translates to 7106.00. Take out 0.09 per dollar 306.00 6800.00. take out 450.00 per week for my 1800.00 truck payment 6350.00. OH NOZORS! I GOT A BLOWOUT AND A BAD EGR! 1400.00 (so I like expensive tires...SUE ME!) 4950.00. take 375.00 out of every month's first paycheck for insurance that month. 4575.00. 1200.00 in fuel expenses 3375.00. I put 5% back for maintenance and tires. 168.75 3206.25. I have a CPA with an IQ ABOVE PRIME's truck speeds which is 200.00 per week on average 3006.25, translating to 12025.00 even every month on a MEDIOCRE month.....

so in summation...LEASING FROM PRIME.....JUST SAY NO!

Does anyone else remember the term "Fuzzy Math?"

Moral of the story; unless you have perfect credit to buy an overpriced truck with a questionable engine from a fictitious truck dealer (Stoops is a FREIGHTLINER dealer,) you should just give up. Work at McDonald's, or better yet, go on welfare. Don't bother trying. You will never be successful in Mr. Magoo's eyes. Isn't that what's most important?

Magoo, on another thread a while back you claimed to be good friends with Prime's owner, Robert Low. "since I was a little boy" I think was your statement.

I'm interested in whether you have ever expressed your complaints to him... And what were his responses? Since you are such longtime friends.
