curious about two things stevens transport and automatic trucks

There are companies that run automatics. TransAm comes to mind. Have him get his CDL physical before anything.

you'd be better off paying for a school yourself and going to a differant company or at least go there with CDL in hand, they will bend you over if you go through there school. There equipment is very good, and the training is also very good. Not sure on the money, i know they are anal about safety and will be up your butt about it all day every day (my dad drove for them for like 4-5 years)

I'm not 100% sure but i dont think you can get a CDL without your legs...I could be wrong though, like gears said get that physical before wasteing anymore time planning a career until he knows hes even quilifyed.

To answer your question about stevens transport. The training is top notch. The equipment is in good to very good condition even for the new drivers. The trainers are required to have at least 2 years over the road experience and be with the company for at least a year. Now the ugly. Grad fleet sucks. Low pay if your coming in green. .26 per mile. They will have you running short distances for at least the first month to insure you are going to be able to keep up. You will spend at least 3 days of every other week or so sitting in the meat patch. This is my experience both as a student driver and as a solo driver. If you do go there expect to have your hand held even for the smallest things. All in all they where a great company. I got an offer of better pay and home time so i took that position.

 

Best to go to a local school, where maybe you can get some financial aid, then choose a company to finish your training. That way if you do not fit in with the company, you are NOT and indentured servant for the schooling.

You will get good training at stevens, very anal about safety, and have additional policies to help one learn the industry.

 

i have cdl w hazmat but need more training do they charge me for that
