My wife and I have worked for this company almost 5 years now. It takes 2 years to reach the top pay scale which is .6233cpm - we bring home $1200 each after taxes, 401k, medical etc. We run 6000 miles a week, gone 5 days, home 2. Every week.

You need doubles and hazmat, and a good record. They don't put up with unsafe drivers. The turnover is less than 10 percent. I've never seen them advertise for drivers.

Major terminals have fuel, scales, showers - we drop and hook, fuel and scale and are gone in about an hour. If there is no freight you get a paid motel and paid $7.50/hour each. 5 free company uniforms provided, then $100 allowance each year. Breakdown handled by third party, just call the number and wait - also paid at $7.50/hr each. Yearly pay increase, 2011 was 1.9cpm. Match on 401K, 6% they match 3%. Yearly discretionary match to 401k.

No pet, no rider. Basic trucks, but often replaced. Elogs, (BLU), zero paperwork, units are scanned in the gates and automatically sènt to payroll. 65mph trucks. Safety bonus gets higher on consecutive years, we are on $450, next year $500(each).

This will be our last driving job. We will be debt free mid 2013 thanks to them (2 rentals, our house and 2 vehicles), so the wife can retire and I can go local. Hire here if you like driving, look elsewhere if you enjoy truck stops and loading docks.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Seems like a great company. My wife and I are considering odfl in the Atlanta area once she hits her year mark. Are the two days off usually the same always or does it have rotation? Also if you don't mind me asking what was the starting pay in you guys area? Thanks

That's what happens when you take care of your employee's.:yes2557: They have like 10% turnover.Werner (or any other of the "mega's") has like 150%. Jeez, you gotta wonder why that is...:biggrin_2559:

Juice 84 - Atlanta has teams, and schedules. Out to Rialto and back is common, often leave out same time every week. We have Tuesday and Wednesday off. Starting pay depends on experience, raises every 6mths till you top out. Probably 54cpm start.

You can also run wild - out as long as you want, take your 34 in a motel that they pay for. 7500 miles not uncommon, I've heard up to $215,000 gross annual as a team for hard runners.

Is OD all teams or do they hire solo company drivers?

All their pickup and delivery work is for solo drivers. They are hard to get hired on to as another driver said. I kept my eye on the Tampa, FL terminal for a couple of years and called them almost monthly. They NEVER once had an opening there in that time frame that I ever saw. May be different now but I doubt it.

sounds great, hopefully being a team might be a good way to get our feet in the door.

The quote we heard when we first hired in was "They'll hire a good team on anywhere" - major terminal or not. They like the husband and wife teams better, they tend to become long term drivers and are more stable than 2 guys (or gals) that team.

I've only met one team out of Florida, I think they handle most of that freight out of Atlanta anyhow.

Hope my first post didn't come off like a brag session , I just hate to find out there are good teams running for companies that don't pay well, crst, England, us express, quest, the list is long, and I've kept an eye on their pay scales over the years.
