Is this true about Swift??
A guy I know (experienced driver) just finished Swift Orient. He's the ultimate "doom and gloom" type, and came back with unbelievable stories.
He claims, Swift says no cell phones while driving EVEN WITH a "one button" voice activated bluetooth headset. Also, no inverters at all, no refridgerator, no TV (unless 12 volt), no anything!!!
Further, even though he's in Phoenix, claims there are no trucks available anywhere in the system. YIKES!!!
Like I said, this guy is the ULTIMATE "sky is falling" (henny penny) type of person, but still I'm wondering if there's any truth to it at all.
Oh, yeah, he even said the either Swift or DOT would be placing cameras alongside major highways to catch violators of the no cellphone rules!!!
Is this a lot of s*** or what???

It's been awhile for me, and I'm sure Injun will pop in on this. My truck had 370,000 miles ran fine looked ok the person before me trashed the inside, but I just had to clean it real good. as for inverters they have to plug into cig lighter. no hard wire. as for cameras I don't buy it that's a lot of money for so little gain. Cell phones I believe that is the new law from what I have read. but not sure.

While driving yes...... But this clown tried to make be believe you couldn't even have one in the truck!!!!!! Still, if any carrier prohibits hands free cell use while in motion, then CD players, Sirius radio, terestial radio, etc, etc should all be banned as well.
As far as Schneider goes..... When I was with them in 2003, their qualcomms were fully operational while in motion.
Anyhow, this guy is a real nut-job...... In fact, even though he has 14 years, exp, it scares me that anyone of his ilk is even on the road at all.
Thanks all.

if you think he is bad go to a truck stop.... yes there are decent drivers out there but there are alot of mental cases and people that look like tards...... I am not trying to be rude but at my own terminal I swear my company hires from the bottom of the barrel.. they hire anyone.

As to the cell phone. Yes, that is the new federal law. No use (cell phones) while in motion. I doubt seriously, that Swift could prevent a driver from having a cell phone in the truck.
Injun, would be a better source of information about inverters, and the like.
As to Swift, not being the top company, that boils down to (in many cases) a driver getting out what they put into a company. Put in poor effort, get out poor results. This is universal to any trucking company.
