Like to have info about Wil-Trans
I'd like to get any informed opinions and or facts about a company based in Strafford MO. named "Wil-Trans". They're a reefer company and I am considering working for them. I'm seriously considering making the switch from pulling dry vans to reefer because it appears that reefer loads are more consistent and less effected by economic downturns or recessions. Any info that's available will be appreciated. Thanks, Bill

Wil-Trans is a small fleet leased to Prime pulling Prime trailers. I believe they have about 150 trucks.

I have been talking to Wil Trans. I have found the recruiter to be very helpful, friendly, & professional. She has indicated I would start at .36cpm since I have 1 1/2 years experience. I would get to bring the trk home w/ me during hometime, & overnight if I happen to be passing thru my home area overnight under a load.

Unless they've changed the way they operate, I was under the impression they were strictly a team operation.

The recruiter has NOT said that they're a strictly team operation, & I've made it clear I'm interested in being a solo driver.

If she's not, I'll go elsewhere.

They have a lot of solos there, but they will push their lease onto you and run you low average miles until you lease. Nice equipment and once you're good with dm, they'll run you. They're dms are in the Prime terminal, but are Wil-Trans paid. So they have all the access to planners, other managers, etc. It's owned by the guy that used to own the Swift Company that was leased to US Xpress for awhile. He closed the Swift Company since this one was doing better and they had a better relationship with Prime.
My cousin has worked for them since 2000 and still there as a company solo. He started with Swift Company in 1995 and switched to them in 2000.

I've been liking into them as well. I have spoken with a really recruiter a few times. This is what I know. Their trks are governed @ 63 ( lease trtrks are 68.) I was told w/ my experience starting pay would be 36cpm. She said their solo drivers are running 2500 to 3000 miles a week. They have APU's on their trucks, I was told I could take the trk home with me. They want you to be out 3 to 4 weeks, home 3 to 4 days. They will allow up to 5 weeks out 5 days home. They're a reefer company and run all 48. They are a subsidiary of Prime. Hope this helps.
