    **Must read for rookies**

May's pay scale is attached in two parts (pp 1-3 and p 4.) This should be handed to every new driver during orientation. Please share this information with your fellow drivers. You may pick up a copy from payroll in Brooks...or maybe it's recruiting. (?)

Rookies are receiving different information about layover pay. One I spoke with last week knew nothing about layover. Another I spoke with last night was told to wait 3 days before submitting for layover pay.

Layover pay is explained on the second attachment (page 4.) Layover is paid $52 for every 24 hour period, measured from the time you send an empty call until you have to move again for the next dispatch. You have to send a message to your dispatcher whenever this occurs. Make sure you keep a record of all pending layovers. You will sometimes need to follow up to make sure they go through.

Even if you are sent a dispatch within 24 hours of being empty, you could be eligible to receive layover pay. If you can start driving after 24 hours and still be on time for your loading appointment, you should be eligible. If you're sent the next dispatch at or after 24 hours, you're definitely eligible. Layover will not be paid, though, until you notify your dispatcher. Layover has not been paid until you see the item on your check stub.

Breakdown pay works the same with one exception. If your truck leaves the shop, the 24 breakdown clock starts over as a 24 hour layover clock.

Please use this thread to post information about specific situations related to any of the accessory pay (layover, breakdown, detention, etc.) so drivers can help each other receive the money they've earned

    Detention Pay

Page 3 states that drivers must perform all required check calls to be eligible for detention pay. Where are those requirements specified? What is a check call, how many are required, and how do I make them?

    Local Pay

Page 4 lists the hourly rate as $10.50. I was originally told that all trips under 150 miles would be eligible for hourly pay. I've also heard 100 miles. What does your dispatcher do?

Also, I received hourly for all time on short loads, from loaded to empty, for the first year or so. Then it changed to $10.50 an hour for the time spent at shipper/receiver. What does your dispatcher do?

I will stay very far away from May. I'll stand on the street corner with a carboard sign and still make more than what they offer.

Because May Trucking isn't on the forums list of approved boners.

Next ppl will start posting on how May raped and pillaged their family and left them homeless.

    1 year experience=.32 a mile ????

not even practical mile pay is it ?

If drivers continue accepting these wages, you'll have nobody to blame, but yourselves.
