I've been with Oklahoma Tank Lines / United Petroleum Transports since 1998, save two years being a dispatcher at a major grocery chain warehouse when I thought the grass was greener.

Anyway, OTL/UPT is changing to just UPT. You'll be seeing new logos soon.

Worked as a company driver for quite some time, then bought a truck and went to the O/O route.

IMHO, if you want to pull a tank, local, regional, or OTR and have a HM endorsement, UPT is the place to be.

Thinking about applying at UPT. Anyone have any concerns or complaints about this company?

Yes, UPT may well be a good company to work for as long as you live in OK, but for the rest of the country, I'm afraid I would advise to steer clear.
Although a good friend of mine is doing well with them in Corpus Christi, where for whatever reason, they have a strong customer base.
I was with them for 2 mths as an O/O hauling gas in the Austin/San Antonio area and they just don't have a big enough client base for am O/O to succeed.
In fact, if they lost their ethanol account they would be in serious trouble. I had 6 yrs experience hauling fuel, so mistakenly I thought UPT would be a good choice.
Too much competition in my area plus poor management skills that made me feel like an employee with a truck payment.
I decided to move on. Caveat Emptor
    YMMV

What do you like about UPT? What do you like about being an O/O?

When it comes to "liking" a company its all relative. UPT maybe good for some, but it wasn't for me. I've heard they are excellent in OK, so if that's where you live then go for it. I've been a co driver for many years so I decided to give the O/O gig a whirl to see if will pan out. Its really early days yet. You have to judge over a minimum period of a year to conclude an opinion. The fact that you are more independent is a factor and you have options. If UPT doesn't work out then you just move on.
    good luck

I do live in Oklahoma and was wondering how are there local (home daily) routes? I have 1 1/2 years t/t exp. and was wondering do I even have a shot if I apply. I really want to haul fuel, so if I have no chance with UPT then maybe you know of any other fuel or tanker companies that maybe I should look into.

ps. I don't mind relocating but I do have a wife and to kids who would be moving also
